Pepsi has canned its controversial new commercial starring Kendall Jenner, after it was blasted for being 'tone deaf' and mocked by Martin Luther King Jr's daughter, Bernice. The soda giant announced it was scrapping the spot in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon. 'Pepsi was trying to project a global a message of unity, peace and understanding,' the statement read. 'Clearly, we missed the mark, and we apologize. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.' The statement was released shortly after Bernice King - the daughter of MLK - mocked it on social media. 'If only daddy knew about the power of Pepsi,' she tweeted, while sharing a photograph of her iconic father clashing with police on the front-line of a protest.

Evgeny Buryakov, 42, was escorted to Russia by deportation officers aboard commercial flights and turned over to Russian authorities, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement. Buryakov was arrested in January 2015 and charged with two others. U.S. prosecutors said they had worked with the Russian intelligence service and conspired to gather economic intelligence on behalf of Russia, including information about U.S. sanctions against Russia. Their job was also to recruit New York City residents as intelligence sources.

The disturbing moment a man appeared to try to abduct a baby from a stroller has been captured on camera. Surveillance footage recorded on Sunday at a Dunkin' Donuts in downtown Philadelphia shows an unidentified man reaching into a stroller inside the store. The short clip starts by showing the man stand up from a chair near a window of the store, before he takes a few steps towards the stroller - which was behind a woman waiting in line (left). The man then reached down into the stroller and appeared to grab the baby (middle), and looked like he was about to lift the child out of the pram. However, the woman quickly spun around and shielded the baby (right) from the man, before another male customer stepped in and heavily shoved him towards the wall of the store.

The estranged husband of former Spice Girl Mel B 'flew into a rage' over her 'tactile' friendship with fellow pop star Cheryl during their appearance on The X Factor. Speaking to The Sun , sources claim Mel, 41, bore the brunt of film producer Stephen Belafonte's anger after he saw her playfully grab Cheryl's bottom. Belafonte, 41, was also said to be unhappy with his wife's flirtatious behaviour around the Girls Aloud star, 33, while they worked as judges alongside Louis Walsh and X Factor boss Simon Cowell in 2014.

Duggan has since suspended all her company related social media after a furious backlash from Schumer fans. Dozens of people hit back branding the comments 'disgusting' and 'shallow.' 'You're part of the problem,' Rachel Pasternak wrote in response to Duggan. Others demanded to know exactly what normal women (ie not models) were supposed to wear in the pool if not a swimsuit.

A neighbor's camera caught the moment the walls on Jennifer Mingo's house in Virginia Beach were torn off by a tornado on Friday night while she hid behind a chair expecting to die. Mingo, her husband, and her grandkids were in the house, but none were injured.

Derek Connolly, who worked on Star Wars: Episode IX and Jurassic World, has filed a lawsuit against a woman named Ada Hui alleging she stalked and invaded his privacy, TMZ reports. He claims the pair met on dating app Tinder in May 2016 before going through a bad break last month. Connolly alleges that she was so enraged by their breakup that she posted copies of their text message exchanges on Instagram. He says she threatened to damage his career and claims she suggested he may be harmed.

She has been sharing swimsuit snaps from her latest sunny getaway.  But Lindsay Lohan, 30, opted for a Burkini as she set out for a paddleboarding session in Phuket, Thailand last week. The two-piece ensemble covered the Mean Girls actress head to toe as she got to grips with a large board on the sand before venturing out into the water.

President Donald Trump's chief strategist Steve Bannon has been removed from the National Security Council, according to an administration filing. Trump elevated Bannon to the council at the start of his presidency, causing controversy. An administration official said the move was to 'de-operationalize' Gen. Mike Flynn, the former national security adviser. Flynn resigned his post under pressure on February 13 and was replaced by General H.R. McMaster. Energy Secretary Rick Perry is now a member of the principals committee - the top echelon of the council.

President Donald Trump and his wife Melania welcomed King Abdullah II Hussein of Jordan and his wife Queen Rania at the West Wing of White House on Wednesday. For her first meeting with royalty, Melania opted for an emerald frock, which she paired with a black belt and classic black pumps. Queen Rania looked just as chic in a black and white ensemble featuring a pencil skirt, and like Melania, she also donned a thin black belt to cinch her waist. After their husbands' joint press conference, the women visited Excel Academy Public Charter School to meet with parents, teachers, and students (inset).

Stefano Gabbana, one half of the famed duo Dolce & Gabbana, posted a photo to his Instagram account on Tuesday of Melania wearing on of the fashion house's blazers for her official White House portrait. 'BEAUTIFUL,' wrote Gabbana alongside the image, along with eight emoji hearts. Soon after he posted, the comment section began to film up with many criticizing Gabbana and the fact that he was celebrating the First Lady. And rather than keep quiet, the designer fired right back, telling one person to 'f*** off' and another to 'go to hell.'

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon has been spotted several times at public events over the past year wearing two button-down shirts at the same time. The unusual fashion choice was flagged by a Twitter user on Wednesday when news broke he had been removed from the National Security Council's principals committee.

Ivanka Trump is getting to work teaching youngest son Theodore another language just one week after her baby boy celebrated his first birthday. The 35-year-old mother of three posted a picture on Tuesday of herself and Theodore playing in the living room of her $5.5million Kalorama home in Washington DC, writing: 'The best moment of the day!' And sitting right in front of baby Theodore was a set of building blocks covered in colorful Chinese symbols.

Amy Robertson, a high school principal in Pittsburg, Kansas, has been forced to resign after her dodgy education background was exposed by a group of student journalists. Robertson (right), the newly-appointed principal at Pittsburg High School in Kansas, was approved for her new job by the local Board of Education on March 6. But before she could settle into the role, student journalists writing for the Booster Redux - the school's newspaper (inset) - decided to dig into Robertson's background. During their three-week investigation the six reporters (left, three of the team) iscovered the private college where their principal received both her Masters and Doctorate degrees had been deemed a 'diploma mill'.

Tysen Benz, 11, was put on life support on March 14 after he attempted suicide in Marquette, Michigan. The boy died in hospital on Tuesday from his injuries. His heartbroken mother Katrina Goss said her son impulsively chose to end his own life due to a social media prank. She described him as an athlete, comedian, friend, brother, charismatic and all around amazing child.

Harriet Fielding, 57, adopted Mark (inset) aged seven in 2007. He was later banned from coming near her after assaulting and terrorising her. Catherine Watts, 43 and her husband John, 42, adopted Sarah (right with Catherine) seven years ago when she was 12, and later her sister and brother. All children had complex learning and behavioural difficulties but over the years they have developed and thrived.

Trans women must attend draft days in Thailand because the country's law does not allow people to change their gender on their ID documents. While many trans draftees are exempt from joining the army, they still have to stand in line with approximately 100,000 men to show their exemption certificates. Forcing them to partake in draft day has caused embarrassment and stress for many Thai trans women and caused outcry from LGBT communities. In Thai culture, trans women are often known as 'Katoeys', controversially known in western culture as 'ladyboys'.

Tahny Hicks (pictured before left, after right and inset), 37, from Mount Compass in South Australia, gave up her nightly vino two years ago, and swiftly lost 10 kilos as a result. 'I was feeling miserable and sluggish from drinking two to three glasses of bubbly a night,' the 37-year-old told FEMAIL. Ms Hicks replaced alcohol with herbal teas and started eating more healthily. She currently weighs around 60 kilos.

An adorable black and tan chihuahua was rescued from a trash compactor in Manhattan last Thursday morning after being spotted by a maintenance worker. The pooch is recovering nicely at the ASPCA. Cops are offering a reward for information.

A woman with webbed feet was discovered 'mostly naked' while walking in a Fresno, California, road. Now, police say they are seeking help in identifying the woman, who has said that she is a mermaid. The woman was located walking in the middle of the street on Millerton Road. Police say that 'her hair was wet, she was mostly naked, and she said she had been in the water'. Fresno police said the woman is 16 - 30 years old.

A New York City woman got her head caught in the doors of the subway while apathetic commuters - including an MTA official - strolled past. A video emerged on Instagram, showing a woman's head poking out between the doors, which closed around her neck while her body remained inside the train car. She remained trapped while the train was parked at a station and one person filmed her predicament while others walked past without stopping to help.

A Wheel of Fortune contestant declared a hilariously wrong answer with such confidence she became a viral sensation. Contestant Melinda, who appeared on the popular game show on Tuesday night, was presented with the challenge of guessing  _O_EYS_CK_E B_S_ under the category of living things. Melinda quickly pressed the buzzer and declared 'Popsicle bike' in a bizarre and wildly wrong guess to what was 'Honeysuckle bush'.

Quintuplets are already uncommon but the Wade brothers - (main image, l-r) Zachary, Aaron, Nigel and Nick - are in a league of their own. That's what the 18-year-olds discovered this week when they opened their acceptance letters to discover that they had all been accepted into Harvard and Yale, as well as a succession other of Ivy League colleges. 'We're still in shock, honestly,' Aaron told The Washington Post. 'I don't think it has sunk in yet.'

Haunting photographs show some of the women who attended the infamous Bethlem Royal Hospital where patients were 'treated' by being spun round in a chair. Most of the patients at the hospital, better known as Bedlam, were diagnosed with acute mania and some arrived after killing people. The notorious institute, which is now based in Bromley, London, was founded in 1247 during the reign of Henry III. Photographer Henry Hering took pictures of scores of Bethlem patients in order to examine their faces for evidence of their mental health conditions. Sarah Gardner (centre), a domestic servant, was admitted to Bethlem when she was 26-years-old in 1857 after she suffered from 'great mental depression'. Harriet Jordan (right) was one of the many patients who were admitted to the hospital in 1858. She was later diagnosed with acute mania. Some of the women in the photographs were not identified (left).

A Florida woman caught the moment that a mother alligator lead her 16 newborns across a golf course into their new pond-home. Sharon Whiting, from Rotunda West, Florida, took a video of the baby gators marching across the golf course. The adorable gang of tiny killers paraded from the pond they were born in, which is small and drying up, into a larger one with more water.

Vision has emerged showing a number of truck drivers being forced to dodge cars abandoned in a flooded river (pictured). The 'truckies', who took on the raging Tweed River in New South Wales last Friday, were forced to manoeuvre around vehicles floating driver-less in the floodwater. The footage of the trucks taking on the floodwater has been viewed close to 328,000 times since being posted to Facebook.

Oleg Sherstyachenko, 25, cheated death when he performed a flip over the speeding blue BMW in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg. A shocking video shows the car bearing down on the extreme sportsman as he runs towards the bonnet. He then flings himself over the top of the vehicle - performing a barrel roll in mid air - much to the horror of the driver and the passenger. Oleg has practiced free running since the age of 14. The camera cuts to the inside of the car to show driver Amiran Sardarov - a Russian social media star - shouting with shock.

Ten adorable spotted cubs were welcomed into the world after two cheetahs gave birth to enormous litters at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute over the course of one week. Three-year-old Happy gave birth to five healthy cheetahs on March 23 while Miti, a seven-year-old jungle cat, gave birth to seven sweet cubs just five days later. Two of Miti's cubs were visibly smaller and less active at the time of birth and died shortly, as it is common for death to occur in large litters.
