Turns out the top hat-wearing Culture Club front man and Girls Just Want To Have Fun singer Cyndi are very close friends.

The Daily Telegraph reported that a massive chorus of cheers erupted from the crowd when Boy George took the stage as her set was drawing to a close.

'I was so happy my dear pal George was able to join me at my concert last night,' Lauper told the publication.

'He makes me laugh and his voice makes me soar. I love George. What a lucky audience. They got to see Blondie and Boy George on the same night.'

Dressed in a glittery black suit and cream top hat, the personality made the most of an impassioned duet with his pal, putting on a happy face despite a reported technical glitch.

His larger than life demeanour was matched in equal measure by his loud blue eyeshadow as he danced like nobody was watching.

Although he was a definite boost to the performance, Cyndi held her own during the career-spanning performance, at once stage snapped splayed-out on a vintage prop suitcase.

Blondie's Debbie Harry opened the packed-out ICC Sydney theater show in style, defying her 71-years with a slick black suit, sunglasses and a very interesting pair of heeled sandals.

At one point, she lost her place during Rapture's infamous rap verse, apologising to a rightfully forgiving audience.

Little did they know the malfunction would be more than made up for by Boy George's surprise appearance.
