But former teen idol Ryan Phillippe proved he is still a beach boy at heart as he partook in a seaside photo shoot for a fitness magazine.

Underlining his manly credentials, the Cruel Intentions star boasted about his snapping session on Instagram on Tuesday, also discussing the photographers' star signs.

The former Mr Reese Witherspoon said: 'Despite my resting b**** face, I had fun working w @rikerbrothers today.

At one point the body confident macho man even struck a glamour girl pose, reclining on some rocks while the waves lapped away close by. However it was not as easy as it looked, for he complained his wet jeans were making him cold.

Perhaps the father-of-three was inspired to flaunt his body after having his confidence boosted by a dalliance with pop tart Katy Perry at Elton John's 70th birthday party last month.

The two are said to have 'totally flirting' at the Los Angeles bash, with the California Gurls star perhaps a teen fan of the ageing actor, and at one point randy Ryan is said to have laid his paws on the warbler's thigh.

Candle In The Wind singer Elton's birthday jamboree was also a celebration of his 50-year songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin.
