The keen sportsman loves football, polo, mixed martial arts, scuba diving and ski-ing; has completed at national level in badminton; and has a toned physique to match - but he's certainly more than just a pretty face.

He completed his 44 weeks training at Sandhurst at the age of 18, and in September 2016 the royal was promoted to the rank of acting captain in the Brunei armed forces.

'It’s been the greatest thing I’ve ever done because it’s really made me become a physically and mentally strong person,' he told GQ Thailand of his training.

His royal duties involve charitable endeavours as well as representing his father internationally.

In 2015, he attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Malta and spoke about terrorism, urging governments to tackle the root causes, as well as sharing intelligence and information on best practice.

Abdul's father Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, is one of the world's richest men, worth an estimated $20 billion.

His mother was the Sultan's second wife, whom he divorced in 2003, and he's the 10th of 12 children.

Despite his family's immense wealth, he insists he's remained down-to-earth, describing himself as 'sweet, simple and funny'.

'My parents brought me up in way where I have to keep my head set and grounded,' he said.

The prince does appear to have developed some lavish tastes, however, and is frequently seen cuddling tiger cubs on his Instagram account.

He's described himself as 'father of tigers' and shared snaps of himself with the tiger and leopard cubs on the beach and snuggling in his bed.

Tigers are not found in the wild in Brunei, a small, oil-rich corner of the island of Borneo, so it's unclear where the cubs originated or what happens to them once they grow bigger.

Luckily for female fans, the prince is believed to be single and has a straightforward list of requirements in a future partner.

'I would say someone who is in genuine and real,' he said. 'Someone who is very simple, that’s what I like.'
