NFL wide receiver Donté Stallworth and girlfriend suffer severe burns after their hot air balloon crashes into power lines during her birthday celebration
NFL wide receiver Donté Stallworth suffered severe burns and his girlfriend was more seriously injured after the hot-air balloon they were riding in over Miami hit a power line Saturday.
The couple took the romantic ride as part of a birthday celebration for Soleil Guerrero, who recently turned 27. They were in the balloon basket along with the operator at 10am when the crash occurred.
Stallworth, 32, is listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at the Kendall Regional Hospital. Guerrero was rushed to a nearby hospital and her burns are considered more severe, the Miami Herald reported.

'Physically she looks good. She has second-degree burns, I believe, in her torso and in her arm, but she’s fine,' Soleil Guerrero's brother, Jimmy, told NBC Miami.
Stallworth, a 10-year NFL veteran, is a free agent who played one game for the New England Patriots last season before he injured his ankle.
His agent said he won't suffer permanent damage from the accident.
'He's going to be OK. He has some
burns, but he's going to be fine,' his agent, Drew
Rosenhaus, told ESPN.
'He will be able to
continue his NFL career. The injuries are not to the extent they will
jeopardize his career.'
According to Miami-Dade Police spokesman Roy Rutland, the basket carrying the three passengers crashed into the power lines while airborne at Southwest 217th Avenue and Southwest 296th Street.

The accident on Saturday comes nearly four years after Stallworth was convicted of DUI manslaughter in South Florida.
In March 2009, the NFL player was driving his Bentley in the early morning after partying at a nightclub and hit a 59-year-old crane pedestrian Mario Reyes.
He had a blood-alcohol level of .126, well above the legal limit.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 days in the jail, 1,000 hours of community service, 2 years of community control, and 8 years probation.
