'Everybody in comedy is heartbroken': Dave Chappelle and John Mayer share poignant tribute to the late Charlie Murphy
Dave Chappelle paid a touching memorial to his friend Charlie Murphy at John Mayer's Wednesday show in Columbus, Ohio, after Murphy died following a battle with leukemia.
During Mayer's show, Chappelle, 43, took the stage and said: 'Today I got some terrible news; my good friend Charlie Murphy passed away this morning, and everybody in comedy is heartbroken. And John, you are a sight for sore eyes.'
After the two exchanged thanks, Mayer, 39, mused about how Murphy came up with a phrase he relishes, 'habitual line-stepper.'

Murphy, the older brother of comedy icon Eddie Murphy, made eight appearances on the comic's famed Comedy Central program, Chappelle's Show.
Murphy lampooned real-life run-ins with stars such as Prince and Rick James in a famed bit called Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories. The James bit spurred the pop culture catchphrase, 'I'm Rick James, b----!'
Aside from his collaborations with Chappelle, Charlie also worked with his brother Eddie on his films such as 1989's Harlem Nights, 1995's Vampire in Brooklyn and the 2007 film, Norbit. His more recent works included the TV shows Are We There Yet? and Power, a crime drama that airs on Starz.
