She became the nation's golden girl when she took home two gold medals at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

And now Laura Kenny is expecting her first baby with her husband, fellow Olympic cyclist Jason Kenny, parading her growing baby bump as she went for lunch with a friend in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on Thursday.

The sportswoman, 24, looked characteristically sporty as she donned tight gym leggings and sneakers for the lunch date.

Laura showed off her growing bump in a stretchy black t-shirt, which she paired with a grey zip-up hoodie.

The beauty let her golden locks tumble free in pretty curls past her shoulders.

Laura looked positively glowing, and went make-up free to show off her flawlessly clear complexion.

2016 was quite a year for Laura and Jason Kenny.

Her appearance comes after she announced her husband, six-time Olympic champion Jason, 29, might quit the sport entirely.

Laura told BBC Sport on Friday: 'He’s having six months to decide what he wants to do, whether to carry on or whether to retire.

'I’m not sure he even knows to be totally honest. As athletes, you always want to carry on, you always want to go to the next one.

'He’s going to give himself a bit of time.'

Laura hinted that impending fatherhood may be behind Jason's decision.

She explained: 'As athletes you become this self-absorbed kind of person and everything’s just about you, but there’s bigger things in life than that.'

Laura announced her pregnancy by posting a picture of two adults' bikes next to a child's balance bike in February.

The news was confirmed by the couple's spokesman who said: 'I can confirm that Laura Kenny is indeed pregnant and that she, Jason and their respective families are absolutely thrilled and delighted with the news.

'They very much appreciate all the kind wishes and messages of support they have received already.

The couple's romance was shared with millions of viewers when they kissed on live TV after winning Olympic gold medals in Rio last year within 90 minutes of each other.

The cyclists married in an intimate, secret ceremony in September, just weeks after they rode to Olympic glory.

While the green child's balance bike in the picture may be for beginners, it's unlikely the child of championship cyclists will need stabilisers for very long.

In fact, Laura has already hinted that their child could follow in their Olympic footsteps.

During the Olympic Games on August 16, the seven-time world champion wrote on Twitter: 'I love him to bits @JasonKenny107! Our kids have to get some of these genes right?'
