'Are you and Mariah still sleeping together?': Nick Cannon gets grilled by Wendy Williams about close relationship with his diva ex

Nick Cannon has denied he is still sleeping with Mariah Carey while being grilled about their close bond by chat show host Wendy Williams on Thursday.

The former America's Got Talent host said that despite the couple's continued closeness, he hasn't crossed the boundary.

'There would be nothing wrong with that, but that’s not the case,' the 36-year-old explained on the show, adding: 'There’s nothing but unconditional love there, I mean she’s gorgeous but you know, I’m respectful. I put the kids to bed and I go home.'

Cannon blamed himself for his divorce from the diva.

He told the host: 'It was all my fault, I did it,' when discussing the split after six years of marriage.

He also joked that he wanted the singer to stay with James Packer, the rich Australian business from whom she split last year.

'I want her to be with the billionaire! More yachts for everybody!' he exclaimed.

Nick flashed his impressive abs as he went shirt-free underneath a leather jacket on the show, and wore his trademark turban.

Speaking about his divorce from Carey - with whom he shares twins Monroe and Moroccan, who turn six this weekend - Nick explained that he felt he couldn't be as good a father within the relationship.

'When two people are in a relationship, it should be about growth.  It should be a situation where everyone's becoming a better human being in the relationship.

'So when you get to a point where there's no longer any growth and you're not bettering each other - especially when you're building a household to become one, because that's what marriage is all about....I felt like it was probably best, especially for our children since they are the number one priority, that I could be the best human being and the best father from outside that house.'

Nick confirmed that Carey had lived up to her diva reputation when they had welcomed their children.

Asked: 'What's the most diva-like thing you've seen Mariah do?'

He replied: 'HAVE TWINS! She shut the whole hospital down. And when they were born she made me play her music as they were coming out. It was Fantasy.'

Nick explained that he left his AGT job after he felt his integrity was called into question.

Cannon, during his Showtime stand-up special earlier this year, had joked about what he can and cannot say in his role as AGT host.

'I grew up like a real n****r. But I honestly believe, once I started doing America’s Got Talent, they took my real n****r card,' he quipped.

Cannon had also joked that the network's acronym NBC stood for 'n*****s be careful'.

It was previously reported by TMZ that show producers believed Cannon had 'disparaged' them and AGT, and thereby was in 'breach of contract', by stating during his stand-up routine that NBC had forbidden him to use the n-word.

On Thursday he explained, of events: 'I loved that job, I feel like it's one of the best shows on television.  But I feel like it was a situation where I was being an artist, I was speaking freely in humour and satire....and it made some people uncomfortable.

'I was making an observation that they didn't agree with, and when my art and my character is placed on the line, I gotta stand for something.'

He added: 'There's no amount of money that's worth my dignity and my integrity.'

Cannon revealed how the departure from the show had come about: 'I got a phone call the night before the special aired that they were very unhappy and looking to terminate my services because of some of the things that I said. Right then immediately I took a stance that I don't care.

'They were saying like, "Do you want to make a statement, or you wanna be compensated?"

'I was like no, tell them to keep their money, keep all of that, I'm good.

'Then they saw that they made a big mistake and they came back and said, "You know, cooler heads have prevailed, we made..."' as Wendy interrupted him from finishing the thought.
