The film also stars Alec Baldwin, The Crown's Vanessa Kirby and Superman star Henry Cavill.

And action: Tom will reprise his role as the special agent Ethan Hunt for the new film
An insider told U.S. magazine In Touch Weekly that Tom was instrumental in casting Vanessa for the role with the source saying that 'Tom flipped for her work' on The Crown where she played Princess Margaret.
'He told the other MI producers that he had to have Vanessa for a crucial role in the franchise's sixth instalment,' they added. 'He's blown away by her endless charm and energy.'
Once Cruise got her on set, they had 'instant chemistry,' and it was that spark between the two that led to her getting the role right away.

Details of the film's new plot is being kept under wraps but fans can expect more daring feats from the Oscar-nominated star when it's released in 2018.
David Ellison, CEO of Skydance Media who co-produce the film told U.S film website Collider: 'What Tom is doing in this movie I believe will top anything that’s come before. It is absolutely unbelievable - he’s been training for a year.
'It is going to be, I believe, the most impressive and unbelievable thing that Tom Cruise has done in a movie, and he has been working on it since right after Rogue Nation came out. It’s going to be mind-blowing.'
However, Jeremy Renner will not be reprising his role as IMF Field Operations Director William Brandt due to a scheduling clash with Avengers: Infinity War, in which he will be playing Hawkeye again.
The 46-year-old actor - who was in 2015's Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, the fifth in the franchise - had been in talks about a return, but a scheduling conflict with the Marvel Cinematic Universe film means he cannot return to the role of William Brandt.
Last venture: Tom picture in the role in the fourth film Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol
