Dining at Faroe Islands' first Michelin star restaurant

Koks restaurant is the only Michelin star restaurant on the Faroe Islands. It recently received the accolade for its inventive yet traditional cuisine. MailOnline Travel pulled up a chair. The 19-course tasting menu costs £160 with a wine pairing costing an extra £125  - there is also a juice paring on offer. A talented craftsmen is making hay by converting old horseboxes into luxury homes. Dean Crago, 33, acquires dilapidated old equine lorries and revives them by painstakingly constructing a quaint mobile dwelling inside. These pictures show his latest restoration: of a 30-year-old Mercedes horsebox that was full of hay and manure when he was first saddled with it in Glastonbury, Somerset.

An amateur photographer has captured one of Canada's best natural wonders. Tourist Kalen Emsley, 24, was flying along the Canadian Rockies in a helicopter, earlier this week, when he was awestruck by its beautiful Berg Lake. Keen to immortalise the fleeting vision because of its vibrant hue, he snapped away - and achieved a potentially award-winning image in the process.

Nomadic family of four swap their home for a CAMPER VAN

People are often striving for effective ways to down-size. But one family took that to the extreme when they swapped their spacious home in Alberta, Canada, for a modest camper van. Josh Biro and wife Jenna Rosene live a nomadic life in their 105 square foot Earthroamer, which they share with their six-year-old son, Arjuna, and two-year-old daughter, Lux.

See them before they go! Animals on the edge of extinction

With humans tightening their grip on the natural world and global warming taking hold, a growing number of animals are dying out. There are currently 5,210 species assessed as 'critically endangered' on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List, the most comprehensive inventory of the planet's different living organisms. A spokesperson for the organisation told MailOnline Travel that many of these creatures have an extremely high risk of going extinct any time soon. For instance, it's estimated that there are now only 60 Javan rhinos left in the wild, while a similar number of Amur leopards are thought to exist.

Dangling off a rope 13,441 feet up high might not sound like a pleasant experience but for daredevil climber Tormod Granheim, this is when he says he feels most happy. Nail-biting video footage captures the extreme Norwegian explorer in his 'happy place', abseiling down an icy vertical ridge on the Mont Blanc massif in the Alps. The terrifying clip shows the 42-year-old scaling a slab of rock, with his crampons tenuously grazing the stone as he goes.

A rare 17th century map (pictured) of Australia is expected to fetch $400,000 after it was rediscovered hidden in a private home in Italy. The map is thought to be the first ever to call Australia 'Nova Hollandia'.

This explosive photo puts the power of nature into perspective, as a tiny drone buzzes by a volcanic eruption. Andrew Studer, 21, from Portland, Oregon, captured the shot as he stood around 2,600 feet away from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupting into the ocean in January. The fiery image shows liquid rock spewing out of a cliff face, with the unmanned aircraft flying unnervingly close to the glowing 220 degree Celsius torrent.

The trains are so fast that they would be able to complete the journey from London to Paris in just 34 minutes. A tester track is expected to be completed by 2019.

Chinese tourist spot installs speed bumps for PEDESTRIANS

Local officials in the town of Taierzhuang have installed 50 so-called 'calming devices' to slow human traffic in the ancient destination point.

Humpback whales are intervening to try and stop the killer whale pod that has been on a murderous rampage in Monterey Bay, California. Over the last 12 days, the pod has killed seven gray whales.

Inside the abandoned 'Disney World' of the Philippines

This sprawling amusement park, nestled in a remote region of the Philippines, was initially destined for big things when it was built in 2001, but was never finished. Named Fantasy World and located in Batangas, a four-hour drive from Manilla, it was once owned by a Japanese businessman who was forced to abandon construction when he ran into financial troubles. Its grounds, comprising of a medieval-style castle (centre) and several uncompleted rides (insets) are now maintained by a homeowner’s association.

British snapper John Hunt flew away with the top prize in this year's Society of International Nature and Wildlife Photographers’ Animals in Action contest for his image of two eagles in Romania (left). Images reveal life inside an Indonesian rubbish dump

Their lives have been documented by 36-year-old French photographer Alexandre Sattler. He visited the dump near Jakarta – which receives 9,000 tonnes of rubbish a day - because he was interested in discovering more about Indonesia’s waste problem. What he found profoundly shocked him. He discovered that families there use the landfill as a way of making a living, foraging in the grime for items they can re-sell. Sattler called it 'a world of filth'.

Well, now a theme park in Japan is running an immersive experience, where entrants can demonstrate their heroicness in a bid to impress others. Hirakata Park in Osaka has a new attraction where actors pretend to start a fight, so you can swing a punch or crush them with a defiant glare.
