Save these hairstyles for a rainy day! After Chrissy Teigen's perfect waves get rained on, FEMAIL details April shower-proof looks to try at home

  • Chrissy, 31,  was caught in the rain after the Time 100 Gala in New York City on Tuesday night
  • Get inspired by weather-proof hairstyles seen on celebrities like Kate Bosworth, 34, and Lucy Hale, 27, so you can avoid a similar fate

It's been a soggy and windy April in New York City and Chrissy Teigen, for one, is not having it.

While leaving the Time 100 Gala last night, even the model's burly umbrella holder couldn't shield her from the blustering storm. This morning, Chrissy Instagrammed a photo of the moment, where her hair is aggressively blowing across her face, with the caption, 'Not today, Satan!'.

Because we're positive that Chrissy isn't the only one experiencing rain-induced bad hair days this spring and because May flowers are still five days away, we've rounded up solid April shower-proof hairstyle ideas below.

Braid it back (or up).

Braids are the ultimate out-of-your face hairstyle, hence why so many stars wore them during Coachella earlier this month.

Two of our favorites: Kate Bosworth stepped out in a tough yet pretty triple braided ponytail and Poppy Delevingne looked playful with her French-braided, double bun look.

For a chic yet secure way to keep hair off of your neck, try an upside-down braid bun like the one recently spotted on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Pom Klementieff.

Keep it slick.

Who cares if your hair gets wet if that's the look you were going for in the first place?

The key to achieving the glossy tousled look as seen on stars like Lucy Hale and Chloe Grace Moretz, is to rake a flake-free gel or wax like Tough Guy Water Wax from root to tip.

Accessorize it.

And if an intricate braid or a product-heavy look seems like too much effort for a dreary day, there's always a top knot. Add an accessory to elevate the simple style in an instant.

Victoria's Secret models Taylor Hill and Lais Ribeiro kept it casual yet cute at Coachella by adorning their no-fuss updos with colorful headbands, while fellow model Grace Mahary jazzed up hers with a metallic bun cuff designed by celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin.
