And Jennifer Lopez has now revealed that her friends refer to her and boyfriend Alex Rodriguez with playful nickname 'J-Rod' - implying their relationship is only going from strength to strength.

The singer, 47, admitted at the Billboard Latin Music awards on Thursday that she and the sportsman, 41, are comfortable with the public referring to their romance with the moniker, as their friends have been using it for some time.

When asked about the witty nickname on the red carpet, the Jenny From The Block singer laughed: 'It's fine. We kind of thought that would happen...

'Because people who knew us were already [saying] it. So, you guys, it's not like you were original or anything.'

Jennifer only went public with her baseball player beau in February, but implied they were more loved-up than ever as she revealed his huge support of her record.

The Shades of Blue star admitted she is very proud of her second Spanish language album, set for release this year, and went on to gush that her boyfriend had been 'very supportive' about the project.

She said coyly at the awards: '[Alex] loves it. I'm so excited, you know, every time I finish something, I bring it home and I want him to hear it.

'He's so supportive. He's such a supportive person and he's so lovely.'

Having performed her new single Mirate for the audience at the ceremony in Miami, Florida, she went on: 'I think it's one of the best albums I've made in a long time and I'm super proud of it.

'Supportive': The star also gushed that her boyfriend had been 'very supportive' of her new album, admitting: 'Every time I finish something, I bring it home and I want him to hear it'

'It's an emotional song. A lot of the songs on the album are like that, even the up-tempo ones have like this beautiful lyrical content ... about love and life.'

Despite heading out on a number of public outings together recently, the New York Yankees player had given the Billboard bash a miss - despite the beauty bagging two coveted awards on the night.

Explaining he would be joining her for celebrations afterwards however, she confirmed: 'He's actually working in Connecticut but he will be here later.'

Jennifer has enjoyed a blissful break over the Easter weekend with her new man and their blended family earlier this month.

While the pair divorced in 2014 after ten years of marriage, the pair appear to still be on good terms - with Marc producing her latest record, and accompanying her at a number of promotional gigs.

Meanwhile the Maid In Manhattan star recently revealed that she had been the one to make the first move - sparking their new romance.

Appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show, she said of their first meeting: 'It's very simple, I was having lunch somewhere and...I saw him walk by and afterwards I went outside.

'For some reason I felt like tapping him on the shoulder and I said, 'Hi Alex!' And he was like, 'Hi... Jennifer' and I was like, 'Yeah! and that was it. I mean, more stuff happened but that's how we met.

'We didn't exchange numbers then, I said, 'What are you doing in LA?' He said, 'I live here now, what about you?' I said, 'I've always lived here', he said we should hang out. I was like, 'OK, you can find me, you have my number?' [He had it] from years ago.

'He said let's go out to dinner, so we did. We had a nice dinner.'
