But Lily James has made quite the departure from her comfort zone as she goes completely naked for romp scene in gritty new movie, The Exception. 

The 28-year-old bares all, wearing nothing but a long silver pendant in the eye-opening bedroom scene with Jai Courtney.

The World War II drama tells the story of German Nazi Captain Stefan Brandt, played by actor Jai.

He tries to determine if the Dutch resistance has planted a spy to infiltrate the home of Kaiser Wilhelm in Holland at the onset of World War II.

During his investigation, he falls for a young Jewish Dutch woman called Mieke de Jong, played by Lily.

It seems Lily, who is in a relationship with Matt Smith, has a fascination with the past - as she has also been filming 1940s movie, Guernsey, in Bristol. 

The story, set after World War II, is a book adaptation and follows the story of journalist Juliet Ashton - played by Lily.

Juliet decides to document the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a book club formed on Guernsey Island in the English Channel  during the wartime. 

She then receives a letter from a farmer Dawsey, and after becoming pen pals, travels to the island to meet the members and write a book about the group.

The film is based on the 2008 best-selling novel of the same name by Annie Barros and Mary Ann Shaffer, which reached the No. 1 position on the New York Times best-seller list for paperbacks.
