'I think Amy could be my very troubled daughter!' Goldie Hawn, 71, says she feels like a mum to Snatched co-star Amy Schumer, 35

They are about to appear in action thriller Snatched as a generation-spanning dynamic blonde duo.

And Goldie Hawn, 71, has revealed she considers Amy Schumer, 35, as more than a co-star and even a friend.

Speaking during an appearance on Friday night's The Graham Norton Show, the Hollywood legend said she 'feels maternal' towards the comic - who in turn quipped that she 'would loved to have come out' of the star's age-defying body.

The pair, who spent time drinking together and getting to know each other during filming, ended up becoming close.

And when asked by the chatty talk show host if, because of their significant age gap, the duo felt more like a mother and daughter, Goldie replied: 'I don’t feel the age difference between us but sometimes I do feel maternal towards Amy.

'As I watch her I think she could be my daughter – my very troubled daughter!'

True to form, the comedienne Amy interjected: 'I’d loved to have come out of you!'

Amy then explained how she became so close to the private star, despite having separate trailers on set.

The star, who works to promote positive body image among young women through her comedy and writing, explained: 'We were staying in different places during filming but we still wanted to drink together every night so we would via FaceTime!'

Goldie replied: 'It was the next best thing to being together.'

But although Goldie 'loves' the New York native, Amy appears to have made less of an impression on her long time partner, The Hateful Eight star Kurt Russell, 66.

Drinking buddies: Amy added: 'We were staying in different places during filming but we still wanted to drink together every night so we would via FaceTime!'

Amy said: 'I went to dinner at their house and Kurt answered the door and was so sweet and he gave me the warmest hello, saying, “It’s so great to finally meet you, Goldie loves you and I love you".

'It was so warm and I was like, ‘Thank you Kurt, we sat next to each other at the Golden Globes!’ He had no idea and nobody in this family remembered meeting me!'

The blonde also shot down speculation that fame has led to her receiving plenty of male attention - saying she frequently gets 'friend zoned'.

She scoffed: 'No! Believe me, comedy does not lead to sex. For women I don’t think it really helps.

'Men say they love a funny girl but they are lying! They like to hang out with a funny girl but that’s it.'

In the film, Schumer's character's boyfriend dumps her before their exotic vacation.

The youthful star said: 'I move around quite a lot. Action movies are really fun – you don’t know where you’ll end up but you’re having a ball. I am fit – I know I’m not as fit as a flea but I am a runner up to a flea!'

While Amy, who has shed the pounds in recent years, interrupted with: 'Goldie is in really good shape – I was the one in the full body sling!'

The star finally explained her long time break from acting to her daughter Kate Hudson this week.

The 38-year-old interviewed her own mother in a rare format for Interview's May issue.

And, when asked why she took the extended hiatus, the Oscar winner explained that it was because she wanted to do something different for a while in order to grow as a person.

The star said the move was triggered after she turned 50 and felt her roles in Hollywood movies were no longer going to be the same.

Goldie explained: 'Because I believe that life is about doing. It's about changing. It's about transitioning. I can't imagine, as a human being, not being able to grow.

'When I turned 50, I asked some of my girlfriends, all actresses of the same age, "What are we going to do now?"

'I wanted to go live somewhere for a while, learn archaeology, or take part in healing the world on some level. I wanted to dig deep and say, "Who am I now? What do I have to offer? What do I have to learn?'''

Amy had previously said how thrilled she was to be acting alongside Hollywood royalty.

She couldn't help but gush about Goldie at last month's  CinemaCon event in Las Vegas:

'Goldie Hawn is up here,' she said. 'She is such an inspiration to me, I love the way you live. I hope I can be you, well, double of you. Do I look like a fat girl going to temple?'

And the feeling appears to be mutual. Goldie echoed the maternal comments she made to Graham Norton, replying: 'I saw your face and you said I really want you to do this movie and I said I would love to work with you.

'I hadn't worked for 14 years, so after coming back, you were my girl and you were my baby,' she concluded.
