Fighting fit! Troubled Olympian Grant Hackett returns to social media to flaunt his toned torso in a shirtless snap... following his arrest for 'violent meltdown'

Grant Hackett returned to Instagram recently, appearing to be on the mend following an arrest in February and subsequent rehab stint for a 'violent meltdown' at his family home.

Spending some time in the USA for the last two months, the 36-year-old Olympic Gold medalist looked tone and in-shape in a shirtless snap shared to social media on Friday.

Having already turned to greatest-ever swimmer Michael Phelps in March, the troubled athlete also announced he was now training with Iron Man Ky Hurst and his America's Cup team, with video later surfacing of Grant's grueling training session in Bermuda.

Grant was looking fit and motivated in the first social media post flaunting his athletic build in over a year.

No longer sporting the scraggly beard from the time of his February arrest, the hunk's washboard abs and toned arms looked well-defined as he smiled proudly.

Standing on some rocks by the waterside in Bermuda, he wore only a pair of board shorts in the snap.

'Great to explore and go diving with @kyhurst in the underwater cave system that runs throughout Bermuda,' he wrote in the snap, referencing long-distance athlete Ky Hurst.

Over on Ky's Instagram, the Iron Man shared video of Grant wearing one of his Team Oracle America's Cup Yacht Race shirts, engaged in an intensive training session.

Grant was undertaking his first ever 'grind' test in the snap, furiously working his ripped arms on an apparatus designed to replicate a boat's winch.

Set to heavy rock music, the former swimmer pushed himself to his absolute limits as America's Cup Champion Team Oracle members shouted support beside him.

With just a few seconds left, Grant collapsed under the pressure of the workout, with the machine clearly taking its toll.

The return to social media would be a pleasing sight to supporters of the embattled star, who recently drew support after falling victim to a hearty tongue-lashing by Dave Hughes at the Logies.

The comedian didn't hold back during his speech, with the audience gasping as Dave quipped that Grant had been 'a bit whingey' and dramatic during his highly publicised battle with his family.

Following the roasting, fans took to social media to voice their dissatisfaction at the gag.

'Dave Hughes mocking a bloke with clear mental health issues. Not funny at all' complained one Twitter user.

In February Grant had a highly-publicised breakdown and was arrested after a disturbance at his parent's house and later wildly alleging his brother had assaulted him.

He was subsequently hospitalised amid fears for his personal safety.

But Dave wasn't done, quipping that Grant was lucky he hadn't ended up dead like the brother of North Korea ruler Kim Jong Un, who was assassinated in Singapore last month.

That's what brothers do, Grant, be a d**k and they give you a clip. Look on the bright side, you could be Kim Jong-un's brother,' he said.
