Michael Douglas says he doesn't have a crisis at home and that he and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones 'are fine' and only taking a 'temporary separation'.

The 68-year-old actor was speaking in Berlin on Monday while promoting Liberace film Behind the Candelabra.

In response to a question from the media, he said: 'I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine.

'We take a temporary separation, but the press, it gives you stuff to write about.'

This is the second time Douglas has remained upbeat about his 13-year marriage to Catherine.

Last week at the Deauville Film Festival in France the actor replied 'of course' when asked by a reporter if he was confident he'd be able to mend his differences with his wife.

Over the weekend Michael looked cheery as he sauntered into the Soho House in the Mitte district of Berlin, days before the premiere.

The silver-haired actor - who turns 69 this month - had also been pictured relaxing on his friends yacht in Sardinia before he arrived in Germany to promote the film.

In between promoting the film, the two-time Oscar winner had just finished a swanky sightseeing tour of the German city from the backseat of a blue Rolls-Royce.

Michael - worth a reported $200 million - reportedly checked out the Brandenburg Gate, Victory Column, the government district, and the TV tower.

A few days before the premiere, the Basic Instinct actor joined his Behind the Candelabra director Steven Soderbergh for a screening of the HBO film at the Deauville Film Festival.

'People have been kindly asking how I’m doing,' the throat cancer survivor told the French crowd - reported THR.

'Well I put on a suit tonight - one that I can’t come close to buttoning - so everything must be OK.'

It was the same festival where Douglas first met his wife of 13 years and famously told her: 'I want to father your children.'

Michael has been wearing his wedding ring, which backs Us Weekly's claims that the couple are 'taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.'

The acting pair, who share a birthday, have reportedly been living separately since May.

"Of course" probably means "as long as I get my way"

I do hope that they are able to work out their differences and support each other. 13 years of marriage is not something to give up on quickly! If they are both so dedicated to work things out, it does make me wonder why they bothered announcing a separation in the first place. I think it would have been better to keep it quiet and see how it goes...now all eyes are on them waiting to see if they are happy, sad, reconciling, not reconciling.

'Work out differences" that means substantially less than half divorce settlement to Zeta!

A person just doesn't toss 13 years away with someone. "Come on guys work it out, that is what couples do."

I'm getting the vibe from their last photo together, they're both pasting smiles on their faces. The strain is showing. But, I hope they can work things out. I mean, where is he going to go? Ask Jane Fonda out? Ask Britney Spears out? Puleaze, Michael. You and Catherine were made for each other.
