A tattooed fitness enthusiast and model accused of a string of robberies in Connecticut has been arrested in California.

David Byers, 34, of Solana Beach, evaded officers in Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania and Arizona before his arrest Wednesday, police said.

Police noted a neck tattoo when they released a description of the suspect.

Byers robbed a Chase Bank twice and a Citgo gas station in Greenwich, Connecticut, police said.

Byers' arrest surprised those who worked with him in the modeling community, according to The Greenwich Time.

'I know he’s an unusual guy, but bank robbery doesn’t seem like his thing,' Stokes said.

'He’s always been so decent and respectful with me.'

Police hope to extradite Byers to Greenwich, Connecticut so he can face charges including first-degree robbery and felony reckless endangerment.
