A brewed awakening? Elle Fanning, 19, looks sombre as she steps out wearing patterned pyjamas... days after she was spotted toasting with a glass of wine at star-studded Met Gala
She was caught on camera toasting her tablemates with a glass of wine at Monday's Met Gala - despite being a full two years under the legal drinking age of 21.
But on Wednesday, Elle Fanning, 19, looked a world away from the glamour she so effortlessly exuded at the annual hot ticket gathering, as she stepped out on the streets of New York City wearing a set of patterned blue pyjamas.
The actress' eye-catching nightwear, currently all the rage among fashion devotees, was decorated with a series of yellow racecars and monogrammed with her initials.

Out and about: Elle Fanning was spotted out and about in New York City on Wednesday
She teamed her comfortable attire with a pair of pink-framed spectacles as she toted a cream lather handbag, while a navy jacket was slung over her arm.
Her lustrous golden tresses were perfectly coiffed in a straight, sleek style with a centre-parting, while she appeared to go largely makeup-free for her excursion.
And, possibly still recovering from such a raucous night, which saw a host of A-listers descend on the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the star looked notably sombre.

Party: The 19-year-old screen star was photographed during Monday night's Met Gala, sitting down at a table and holding up her glass to cheers with the other guests
Context: A representative for Elle told the DailyMail.com that the young actress didn't actually drink liquor and only participated in the toast
Her low-key day out in the Big Apple comes after photographs were unveiled showing the screen star toasting her tablemates at the glamorous gala with what appears to be a glass of white wine.
Elle was photographed during the reception, sitting down at a table and holding up her glass to cheers with the other guests, including the likes of Jessica Chastain, and Lupita Nyong'o - who appears to be raising a glass of water.
Despite Elle being pictured with the glass however, a representative for the actress insisted to DailyMail.com that the young actress didn't actually drink liquor and only participated in the toast.
Too young: According to Elle's rep, glasses of wine were placed on the tables before guests were seated, even though at least 11 other underage guests (such as Bella Hadid, 20) attended
Still teens! On the highly sought-after guest list were also 19-year-old Paris Jackson (left) and 18-year-old Sistine Stallone (right), the daughter of actor Sylvester Stallone
According to the representative, the glasses were placed on the tables before guests were seated, which would explain how an underage attendees such as Elle had easy access to the drink, despite not legally being able to consume alcohol.
'Elle did NOT drink alcohol at the Met Gala,' the representative said in an email. 'The glasses were at the table before everyone was seated and she only participated in a toast.'
DailyMail.com has also reached out to Vogue, which oversees the event, for comment. Representatives for the Metropolitan Museum declined to comment.
Exclusive: Guests to the event - such as 18-year-old Sofia Richie - must be reviewed and vetted by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour before they can attend
Forever young: Kylie Jenner, who was also on the exclusive guest list, is only 19 years old - meaning she is two years away from being able to drink legally
In the image snapped of Elle's table, the actress can be seen sitting next to Lupita, 34, Sarah Paulson, 42, and Italian filmmaker Francesco Vezzoli, 46, all smiles as she takes part in the celebration.
But while all of Elle's tablemates appeared to be of legal drinking age, at least 11 other guests at the event are currently younger than 21.
On the very exclusive guest list were also Paris Jackson, 19, Kylie Jenner, 19, and Sofia Richie, 18.
Bella Hadid, who made a noticed appearance on the red carpet with a nearly-nude catsuit, is only 20 years old.
Juniors: Jaden Smith (left), 18, will have to wait three more years before he can legally drink, while 20-year-old actress Zendaya (right) is still a few months too young

Squad: Models Jordan Barrett (left), 20, and Cindy Crawford's son Presley Gerber (right), 17, joined the glamorous crowd at New York City's Metropolitan Museum
The same goes for 20-year-old actress Zendaya and model Jordan Barrett, who were both part of the edgy event.
Sistine Stallone, the daughter of actor Sylvester Stallone, is 18 years old, as is Jaden Smith. Also invited was Cindy Crawford's model son Presley Gerber, 17.
His younger sister Kaia, also a model, attended the Met Gala last year when she was just 15 years old.
Tickets to the Met Gala cost a staggering $30,000 a pop this year, according to the New York Times, and tables went for $275,000.
But money is not enough to get entry to the A-list event: the gala is accessible by invitation only, and each guests must be reviewed and vetted by Vogue editor-in-chief and Met Gala chair Anna Wintour.
Breaking the rules: Marc Jacobs, 54, Courtney Love, 52, and her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, 24, all posed for a picture in the bathroom while smoking - defying New York's ban
Not permitted: A smoking Bella Hadid could be seen on social media smoking in the museum's bathroom next to Lara Stone and Ruby Rose
Meanwhile, other guests engaged in another type of rule-breaking in the museum's bathroom: some celebs were seen in social media photos blatantly violating New York's strict indoor smoking ban.
Bella could be seen puffing on a cigarette as she crouched on the floor next to Paris Hilton, fellow model Lara Stone, and Orange is the New Black star Ruby Rose.
At 20, Bella is old enough to purchase cigarettes in New York - but still too young to drink legally.
Dakota Johnson was also captured lighting a smoke in the bathroom by her pal Rita Ora, who posted the moment on Snapchat.
Caution to the wind: Dakota Johnson was one of the many stars snapped breaking the New York smoking ban as pal Rita Ora captured her enjoying a smoke in the bathroom
Puffing away: In the background, Behati Prinsloo could be seen taking a cigarette break
Say cheese: Slick Woods and model Adwoa Aboah posed for Ashley Graham's camera, while Jourdan Dunn can be seen posing in the background
