Michelle Obama enjoyed lunch in Greenwich Village with a host of celebrities supporters after a morning of speaking to students at College Signing Day inNew York.

The former first lady said Friday that her departure from the White House won't end her passion for education.

She made the comment at a New York City event marking College Signing Day, a nationwide tradition she began participating in as first lady to encourage young people to seek higher education.

'I might not live in the White House anymore, but Barack and I are going to keep on celebrating you all and supporting you and lifting you up no matter what house we live in,' Michelle said.

'Our belief in the power of education to transform your lives is real and it's going to be at core of everything that we do going forward.' 

The MTV hosted event was held at the The Public Theater, and was a star-studded affair.

Celebrities such as Billy Eicher and Bella Hadid also attended the College Signing day at the Public Theater in New York

It was the fourth year that Michelle has attended, and this year she was also joined by celebrities such as Nick Cannon, Bella Hadid, Andy Cohen and Ashley Graham.

The former first lady donned a t-shirt with her Alma mater, Princeton University, and everyone else in attendance wore clothing signifying where they attended or plan on attending college.

Also in attendance were 'Good Morning America' anchor Robin Roberts, former NBC news anchor Tamron Hall, actor Billy Eichner and designer Nate Berkus.

During her brief remarks,  Michelle Obama avoided addressing politics or President Donald Trump, but did offer the students some wise words regarding social media.

'The number of acceptance letters you get should be more important than the numbers of followers you have on social media,' she said.

The former first lady had a legacy of encouraging students to achieve higher education.

While in Washington, she spearheaded the Let Girls Learn initiative in 2015 which was 'to expand educational opportunities for girls - including in areas of conflict and crisis.'

However, last week the Trump administration made a move to roll back some of her initiatives, such as her healthy school lunches and the Let Girls Learn program.

As his first major action in office, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue said the department will delay the requirement on lowering the amount of sodium in meals while continuing to allow waivers for regulations that all grains on the lunch line must be rich in whole grains. 

He said those standards are too restrictive and that they will work on new long term solutions to help schools. 

As for the Let Girls Learn initiative, in a letter to Peace Corps employees first revealed by CNN, its acting director Sheila Crowley said 'we will not continue to use the Let Girls Learn' brand or maintain a stand-alone program'.

'We are so proud of what 'Let Girls Learn' accomplished and we have all of you to thank for this success,' Crowley said.
