Twilight star Nikki Reed is expecting her first child with husband Ian Somerhalder.

The actress, 28, shared her exciting news with fans via social media on Thursday, posting a photo of Ian placing a tender kiss on her pregnant belly.

Nikki cradles her bump with both hands while her Vampire Diaries star husband kneels down with his left hand on her right hand.

The couple married in 2015 and just celebrated their second wedding anniversary one week ago.

Alongside the photo, in which she's wearing a flowing light blue chambray dress, Nikki wrote a sweet message to her unborn child.

'Hi Little One,' she wrote. 'I know you, but only because I feel you. How is it possible to love someone so much already?'

She went on: 'All I know for sure is it's the strongest feeling I've ever felt. We've been sharing this body for quite some time, and we've already experienced so much together. We can't wait to meet you... Love, Your parents.'

So in love: Nikki, 28, and Ian, 38, celebrated their second wedding anniversary two weeks ago, with Ian describing his wife as 'the most amazing human in the world'

On April 26, Ian posted a throwback snap from their wedding day to his Instagram.

While making no mention then of their happy baby news, the Louisiana native gushed about his bride, calling her 'the most amazing human in the world.'

On Thursday, he posted the same snap as Nikki and said he 'couldn't think of anything more exciting' than parenthood.

'In my 38 years on this earth I’ve never experienced anything more powerful and beautiful than this,' he wrote on social media.

Big secret: The actress had kept her baby bump under wraps in a large camel-colored coat when she attended an event with her husband in Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles, on April 11

He then explained why they had had kept the news secret for so long.

'This has been the most special time of our lives and we wanted to keep it between the three of us for as long as possible so we could enjoy this time with each other and our little one who is growing so fast.'

Nikki, who played Rosalie Hale in the five Twilight films, was previously married to American Idol alum Paul McDonald whom she married in October 2011 following a whirlwind romance.

The actress filed for divorce in May 2014 and it was finalized in January 2015.

In February 2015, she confirmed her engagement to Ian who had previously been in a three-year relationship with his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev. They split in 2013.
