Gareth Southgate is set to be interviewed for the England manager's job on Monday, Press Association Sport understands.
Southgate has been in interim charge since Sam Allardyce left the role in late September, with a four-match unbeaten spell ending after the 2-2 draw against Spain at Wembley on Tuesday night.
Football Association chief executive Martin Glenn revealed on Thursday that Southgate had made it clear he wants the job on a permanent basis and they are set to hold further talks at the start of next week.

Southgate was England Under-21s manager before taking over from Allardyce, who left the senior role after making controversial comments in a conversation with undercover reporters from the Daily Telegraph.
Former England defender Southgate has overseen two wins and two draws in his four matches in charge.
Victories at home to Malta and Scotland plus a draw in Slovenia have put England top of their World Cup qualifying group. In his only friendly in charge so far, England drew with Spain on Tuesday, marking the end of the 46-year-old's interim spell.
While Glenn confirmed on Thursday the FA would soon be interviewing Southgate for the permanent role, he would not be drawn on whether other candidates would also definitely be talked to, stressing " this interview process has to be discreet.''
Glenn, however, indicated Southgate was "in a strong position".
He added: "N ot just (because) the facts of the last four games have shown a lot of signs of encouragement but the fact he's worked in the FA for the last couple of years.
''He's run the Under-21s well, he understands how the international set-up works so we're going to be having discussions with him in the coming weeks to really understand what his learnings are, what his ambition for the England team is and really, really understand that well and then we'll take a considered view.''
