New dad Liam Payne celebrates fatherhood as he hits the town for a night out with pals... after revealing his baby son has been named BEAR

He's just become a father for the first time, and he finally got the chance to celebrate the momentous occasion.

Liam Payne, 23, who welcomed his first child with girlfriend Cheryl, 33, in March, jumped at the chance to party with a few pals last night in Central London.

The One Direction star spent his first night away from his newborn as he joined some friends for a game of pool.

Appearing to be well rested, the handsome singer looked over the moon to be enjoying a well deserved break from new dad duties.

His pal Andy Samuels also treated the new dad to some blue cupcakes, some with icing of his name 'Bear' and others with the face of a crying tot on them.

Now he's having to juggle taking care of Bear and working on his soon-to-be launched solo career, Liam's been rushed off his feet recently.

Earlier this week, the star cut a tired figure when he emerged from a vehicle sporting a very relaxed, casual ensemble.

The new dad was dressed for comfort in a peach-coloured jumper and light wash jeans which were heavily ripped on the knee area.

Liam's distressed denims were scruffily tucked into his lace-up brown boots and he completed the look with a gold chain and grey beanie.

Despite having his hands full with a young son, Liam still manged to look in good spirits as he headed indoors.

The Wolverhampton star's sighting came after he confirmed the rumours of the tot's unusual moniker during a surprising Twitter exchange on Tuesday.

Liam broke his silence when he responded to a tweet sent by survivalist and television adventurer Bear Grylls, who praised the couple on their choice of name.

Bear wrote: 'Great choice! Love & blessings to you guys as you start on the greatest adventure... @CherylOfficial @LiamPayne. (sic)'

To which Liam responded: 'Thanks man hope he grows with an ounce of your courage! Your a boss. (sic)'

It was previously suggested the pair may have been inspired by Grylls, 42, whom they both know.

Payne has met the explorer several times and filmed an Alan Carr Chatty Man special alongside him in 2012.

Cheryl has featured on film with Oliver for his Food Revolution Day last year when she revealed that her boyfriend was a fan of the celebrity chef.

This comes following reports the pop stars have decided to call the five-week-old child Bear after finally settling on it just days ago.

On Sunday night, a friend said: ‘Liam and Cheryl couldn’t decide on a name for ages and kept toing and froing between options.

'But they both loved Bear and settled on it a few days ago. Despite the sleepless nights, the couple are completely smitten with little Bear.’

The happy couple are using the One Direction star’s surname so their son will be known as Bear Payne.

Cheryl began dating Payne at the beginning of last year and Bear was born at the exclusive Portland Hospital in central London on March 22.

The news was confirmed online some days later, when she posted: ‘Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing in at 7lbs 9oz and looking like a dream.

‘Although he doesn’t have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival.’

Hold me close: Ahead of the confirmation, a friend said: ‘Liam and Cheryl couldn’t decide on a name for ages and kept toing and froing between options. But they both loved Bear and settled on it a few days ago
