Sister of Union J member George Shelley tragically dies after being hit by a car in Bristol

The sister of boyband star George Shelley has died a week after being hit by a car in a tragic accident.

Harriet Shelley, sister of the former Union J member and I'm A Celeb heartthrob, suffered serious head injuries and was in intensive care since the accident on Friday April 28.

The 21-year-old died at Southmead Hospital, in Bristol, her family confirmed this evening.

Her mum Toni Harris from nearby Clevedon, Somerset didn't blame anyone for tragic accident saying that her daughter had been in the 'wrong place at the wrong time'.

Speaking last week she praised staff at the hospital for 'working 24/7' to help her daughter and that her condition had stabilised.

She said: 'She was hit by a car. She's very poorly but she's stable.

'Everybody at Southmead Hospital has been amazing, they have been working 24/7 to make sure she is alright.

'Everybody across different religions in Clevedon and Bristol have been so amazing - they have been praying for our daughter and holding church services.' 

Harriet had just graduated with a midwifery degree.

Her brother George shot to fame with his band Union J in 2012 who starred in reality TV singing contest X Factor in which they finished fourth.

He also finished as a runner-up in the 2015 series of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and has tried his hand at acting and presenting.

Happier times: The singer/songwriter appeared to be flying solo to the event, with no public appearance with model Matthew to speak of since they went public with their relationship

Harriet had just graduated with a midwifery degree

Older brother: He finished as a runner-up in the 2015 series of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, joined the team at Capital Breakfast until earlier this year when Roman Kemp took over, has appeared in a role in ITV comedy Benidorm and released solo music.
