The online pop group that's putting Rihanna in the shade: The Zeamus launch antidote to raunchy online videos (and Denise Van Outen is a fan!)

  • The Zeamus play pop songs aimed at primary school children covering issues like bullying and annoying relatives
  • Owen Parker, who has worked with Robbie Williams, has written some songs
  • Zeamus explained that kids should have music they can relate to

Mothers fed up with their children aping the lewd antics of pop stars such as Rihanna have created their own online group.

Instead of being subjected to gyrating, half-naked performers singing about sex and drugs, six- and seven-year-olds can now tune into the more wholesome world of an animated band called The Zeamus.

It follows a warning by experts that raunchy pop videos on the internet can pose greater risks to young children than pornography because they are more difficult to block.

The Zeamus, who can be watched on YouTube, play pop songs aimed at primary school children that focus on issues such as bullying and annoying relatives.

Musicians including Owen Parker, who has worked with Robbie Williams, have written the songs.

Titles include Too Cool For School and Alone In The Dark.

Zeamus Music spokeswoman Sara Acworth said: ‘There is not really anything written for kids that is really decent music that parents don’t mind listening to as well.

‘Kids deserve music they can relate to and be inspired by.’

One Zeamus fan is actress and TV presenter Denise van Outen, who tweeted a picture of her six-year-old daughter Betsy and a friend listening to the song.
