When has that stopped you before? Clinton claims the media says she 'can't talk' about Russian interference in the election as she compares herself to Macron who won in spite of hackers

  • Clinton tweeted on Sunday that the media says she 'can't talk' about the hack
  • She was congratulating Emmanuel Macron on his French election victory
  • Clinton said his win despite alleged interference from hackers was a 'victory for the world'
  • Macron's emails were hacked and leaked two days before the polls opened in France
  • Clinton last week blamed her own election defeat on hackers who sabotaged her chances
  • She also blamed FBI Director James Comey for her loss to President Trump

Hillary Clinton claimed the media does not allow her to talk about Russian interference during her presidential election loss in a terse tweet on Sunday.

The former candidate was congratulating France's Emmanuel Macron on his stunning election victory when she made the complaint on Twitter.

'Victory for Macron, for France, the EU, & the world. Defeat to those interfering w/democracy. (But the media says I can't talk about that)' she wrote.

It was in reference to widespread observation last week that she blamed her own political defeat on Russian hackers and the FBI director's revival of its investigation into her.

Hillary Clinton complained that the media says she 'can't talk' about Russia's interference with the election in a tweet on Sunday that was intended to congratulate France's Emmanuel Macron on his stunning political win

During a rare public appearance in New York, she said of her failed campaign: 'I was on the way to winning until the combination of Jim Comey’s letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off.'

Despite earlier stating that she 'absolutely' took responsibility for the defeat, she went on: 'If the election had been on October 27, I would be your president,' ultimately attributing her loss to Comey's October 28 announcement that he had revived the FBI's investigation into her use of a private email server.

Her autopsy of the defeat, the first given publicly since the election, dominated news coverage of the interview.

No proof has yet been offered that Russian hackers were behind a massive dump of leaked emails from President Macron's campaign two days before polled opened in France.

Suspicion inevitably fell on the Kremlin given the hack's similarity to the the cyber attack on the DNC last summer.

The Obama administration lay the blame for that hack squarely with Russian officials and the FBI is now probing whether President Trump or anyone in his camp was involved in its orchestration.

Clinton blamed her own campaign defeat on FBI Director James Comey

The security breach published thousands of emails exchanged by members of Clinton's inner circle on WikiLeaks.

Correspondences ranged from discussions over campaign strategy to catty character assassinations aimed at the candidate's daughter Chelsea.

After Clinton's speech at the Women for Women International event in New York last week, President Trump responded mercilessly.

'FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds!

'The phony... Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election.

'Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?' he wrote on Twitter.
