Being constantly flanked by fans or the paparazzi must get frightfully tiresome for the famous.

So it's no wonder Zayn Malik decided to mix things up a little en route to an appointment in New York on Sunday afternoon.

The former One Direction singer was seen trying to slyly enter a building in Tribeca, keeping close to the exterior wall as he approached the main entrance doors.

But an unforeseen obstacle stood between him and the entry - namely a wheeling luggage trolley used by bellmen in hotels.

But thrifty Zayn, 24, wasn't letting that stop him make a hasty entrance.

Utilising the fact that the trolley was empty, he lowered himself through it and stepped out the other side, avoiding having to walk around it instead.

This allowed a slick entrance into the building and all was well.

The Pillowtalk singer looked casual in a black leather jacket with burnt edges, over an MTV T-shirt.

He wore jeans and red-soled trainers and swept his black/blonde hair back from his face.

Clearly in a jaunty mood, Zayn was snapped looking far from happy earlier on.

He was pictured leaving model girlfriend Gigi Hadid's apartment cutting a brooding figure, making his way to his waiting car, with a member of security close by.

His eyes were hidden behind dark shades as he clutched his phone tightly in his hand.

The NYC appearances follow a backlash from last week from online trolls, when he linked a GoFundMe page requesting donations to help pay for the treatment of his mother's best friend, Ayesha Butt's incurable cancer.

Fans slammed him suggesting the singer, worth around £30million, should pay for the treatment himself.
