Terrifying Pennywise emerges from the sewer as young It cast reveal sneak preview of Stephen King horror film at MTV Movie and TV Awards

The young cast of the upcoming horror film It debuted a new preview for their upcoming film in a segment at Sunday's MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The stars of the upcoming fall thriller, who are referred to in the film as 'The Losers' Club' - Chosen Jacobs, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Jaeden Lieberher - introduced the trailer for the music channel's annual cinematic honors, which were held at the at the Shrine Auditorium.

Their entrance came with a bit of Hollywood razzmatazz, as the lights in the building came off as the cast made their grand entrance brandishing flashlights.

In the clip, viewers saw the kids' quiet hometown of Derry, Maine, where the story is set, as the Losers' Club walk around the rural part of town into a filthy sewer.

At that point, a red balloon appears signifying the presence of the terrifying clown, Pennywise, launching through a sequence of scary images from the movie.

The motion picture, which is based on the 1986 bestseller from King, already has tremendous buzz, as its trailer in March racked up more than 197 million views in its first full day, setting a new record.

The film is due in theaters September 8.
