The Human Ken Doll Rodrigo Alves drowned his sorrows on a flight home after doctors in India refused to carry out a risky operation to change the colour of his eyes.

Rodrigo, 33, has already spent £397,000 on more than 150 body-changing operations and procedures - including liposuction, six-pack implants and botox fillers.

The TV presenter travelled to New Delhi, India, for a pioneering operation to change the colour of his eyes from brown to icy grey last month.

Refused: Rodrigo had to travel almost 5,000 miles to find out that he couldn't have the operation

But Brazilian-born Rodrigo, from London, was forced to return the nearly 5,000 miles home after surgeons said his eyeballs were too small to hold the artificial iris.

Tearful Rodrigo landed back in the UK on Monday after drowning his sorrows with champagne on the first class flight home.

He said: 'The doctors said my eye chamber is too shallow. I'm very upset and I have been crying a lot.

'It is frustrating because I was really looking forward to it, but I appreciate the doctors have to take safety very seriously.

'If I go on a date with someone and it eventually developed into more, the person will expect me to wake up in the morning with blue or light eyes - but not brown.

'I suppose it's just one of those things.'

Eye-colour changing cosmetic implants have only become possible in the last few years.

The procedure is not illegal in the UK, but eye surgeons strongly recommend it isn't done on healthy eyes due potential risks like glaucoma, blindness and wonky pupils.

The operation would have seen surgeons cut a 2.8mm slit and 'slot in' and artificial iris.

Rodrigo had hoped the op would replace the hand painted £500-a-time contact lenses he has been wearing for nearly 20 years.

It is only available cosmetically in a handful of countries, and Rodrigo flew to New Delhi for the operation on April 30.

He had a consultation, before doing shopping and charity work in an orphanage, and then returned for a follow up pre-surgery appointment.

But doctors said he couldn't have the operation because his eye chamber was 0.68mm too small to hold the implant safely.

He is now looking into a laser procedure to change the colour of his eyes and added: 'It removes the brown colour of your natural eye turning into blue.

'My next surgery will be another nose job as at the moment I sound too nasal and still and I can't breath very well.

'The reason I'm so open about my body modifications is simply because someone has to talk about it to break the taboo and the stigma that plastic surgery is bad for you.'

He also indulges in twice-yearly Botox and filler top-ups and takes a cocktail of daily pills consisting of collagen tablets, anti-water retention and hair growth tablets.

He has also had the skin between his inside lip and gum cut to give him a wider smile and liposuction in his legs and back which was re-injected elsewhere in a bid to make him look younger.

Party-loving Rodrigo says he pays for the operations himself through promotional and TV work, brand endorsement and renting out 11 homes in Spain.
