The Trump administration claims the bodies of those killed were burned in a large crematorium attached to the Saydnaya prison complex outside the Syrian capital of Damascus. The allegation matches an Amnesty International report released in February which claimed up to 13,000 people - mostly civilians opposed to the government - have been hanged in secret at the prison. Stuart Jones, the acting US assistant secretary for Near Eastern Affairs, said Syrian President Bashar Assad's government 'has sunk to a new level of depravity' as he revealed the photographs.

The video shows the tiger shark being caught by a group of men on board a boat in the sea near the city of Veracruz, in the eastern Mexican state of the same name. After dragging it alongside the boat, they shoot repeatedly, making the animal bleed. The dying shark leaches streams of blood into the sea as it continues to be shot at from the boat. Local media reported that one of the men involved in this act of animal cruelty is Francisco Ruiz, a major Mexican businessman from Veracruz.

The 29-year-old argues that cave photography is the most difficult subset of the genre, because as well as carrying heavy loads of gear, he must also climb vertical pitches, abseil, and often work in total darkness.
