Killer chef afraid wife would expose him as an escort

NEW A chef who brutally murdered his Indonesian transsexual prostitute wife Mayang Prasetyo (left and top right), 27, was worried she would expose his double life as a gigolo to his family if he left her, an inquest heard. Marcus Volke (bottom right) is believed to have killed her in their upmarket Brisbane flat in October 2014 after a series of loud arguments. The 27-year-old then chopped her into pieces before boiling them on his electric stove to get rid of the evidence. He then killed himself while hiding from police in an industrial bin after fleeing when officers showed up to check on Ms Prasetyo. An inquest into the murder suicide, which was told Volke's death was unavoidable, will deliver its findings on Friday.

Moors murderer Ian Brady, who killed five children alongside Myra Hindley (right), has died, Ashworth Hospital has confirmed. The child killer was receiving end of life care at the secure mental hospital where he was being detained in Merseyside. In December it was revealed that he was suffering from inoperable lung cancer. Brady, and his co-accused Hindley murdered Pauline Reade, 16, John Kilbride, 12, Keith Bennett, 12 )inset), Lesley Ann Downey, ten, and Edward Evans, 17. The pair tortured the children in the 1960s and four of the victims were buried on Saddleworth Moor in the South Pennines. Brady was jailed for three murders in 1966 and had been at Ashworth since 1985. He and Hindley later confessed to another two murders.

Major Martin Manhoff photographed everything from the construction of Stalinist skyscrapers to an elephant at the zoo while he served as an assistant army attache at the US Embassy in Moscow for two years. Manhoff was deported for espionage in 1954, and the reels of 16 millimeter film, along with color slides and negatives, were stored in a former auto body shop until the Seattle-based historian Douglas Smith uncovered them about 60 years later.

Players from the club spent a painstaking six weeks to learn the steps of the traditional dance of the indigenous New Zealand people, the Maori. Mr Reid, 34, said he was overwhelmed by the performance. He said: 'The rugby club is like a big family. It was quite emotional to watch and to think how much effort they put in.'
