If I can make it here! Cheryl Cole keeps busy with glamorous cover shoot as X Factor USA job hangs in the balance

She's yet to find out if she has the coveted judge's job on the U.S. version of The X Factor. But Cheryl Cole isn't letting that stop her from forging a career Stateside.

The 27-year-old star donned a thigh-grazing white minidress as she posed for a sexy new cover shoot for Glamour magazine in Beverley Hills last week.

With her brunette hair swept sexily into a side ponytail, Cheryl smiled and gazed seductively into the camera during the shoot as she showed off some new curves.

Cheryl is expected to have a role on the programme - it has just not been decided what that is. But a source told MailOnline that Cowell is desperate to have her at his side.

While she has certainly won favour with U.S. television executives, there is some concern that audiences there won't 'get her', and her lack of profile in the country could prove to be another negative.

High-profile American celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has dubbed Cheryl a 'nobody' and said he thinks her Geordie accent might be an issue for US viewers.

He said: 'I think it would be disastrous if Simon Cowell gave Cheryl Cole a place on the U.S. judging panel. No one over here knows who Cheryl is and I doubt anyone would understand her accent.

'Why would Simon go for a nobody if he can get someone like Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera to join the show? The judges should be Mariah, Christina, Simon and me - four massive divas.'

However, Cowell is also thought to be lining up Mariah's ex-husband, American record executive Tommy Mottola, for a role on the judging panel - suggesting Mariah might not be so keen to take part in the programme.

Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger is another name being bandied around, following her success on the UK show last year, while Jessica Simpson's involvement is also rumoured.

But while Cheryl is clearly determined to continue to pursue a career for herself in America, she decided to miss out on the glitzy Academy Awards ceremony last weekend to concentrate on her work.

She is said to have been working on 'new music' during her time in Los Angeles, as well as spending time with rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough.

A source told The Sun: 'Cheryl's in LA for a photoshoot for a new magazine campaign. In between she spent time with Derek and even got a chance to meet with his family, which was nice.'
