  • Hilary, 29, said Luca doesn't totally understand that she is famous
  • However he does think she is like a Ninja Turtle, since he knows her job is special compared to other parents
  • He also recently learned that her name is Hilary Duff, which was a surprise

Hilary Duff's son has recently begun to realize that his mom has a very special job — he's just not quite sure what that job is, exactly.

The 29-year-old actress recently sat down to discuss motherhood on the social media channels for her show, Younger, and she explained that five-year-old Luca is now starting to understand that his mother is famous — well, sort of.

'Luca doesn't know the word "famous,"' she said in a clip posted on the YoungerTV account for Mother's Day this weekend. '[But] he's starting to figure out that my job is different than other mommies' at school. Other mommies' and daddies'.'

Hilary has been acting and singing professionally since she was a kid, and is currently the star of the popular TV Land show Younger.

Recently, she was also in the 2016 movie Flock of Dudes, and released the album Breathe In. Breathe Out. in 2015.

To Luca, of course, she's always been just 'mom', but he is learning more and more as he gets older.

'He knows that, like, I sing, and I work,' she said. But in what capacity she does those things is still a bit of a mystery to the kindergartner.

'He asked me if I was a Ninja Turtle the other day,' she said with a laugh. 'I'm like, "I'm not a Ninja Turtle... I am on TV." He's trying to figure it out.'

'But I think in his mind, he's like, "She's definitely the purple Ninja Turtle,"' she added.

While not exactly accurate, that's still high praise from her son, who is a big Ninja Turtles fan. He has a Ninja Turtles backpack, and Hilary has spoken about how he likes to pretend to be them from time to time.

Back in August, Hilary also admitted that Luca was convinced that 'the Ninja Turtles live in every man hole cover we come across'

While the details of her career are still a bit fuzzy, Luca did recently figure out what his mother's real name is, which is 'so weird', she said.

Luca — whose father is Hilary's ex Mike Comrie — has a different last name than his mom.

'I was like, "Oh, what's my name?" 'cause it's funny when you kids find out your real name and your name's not mom,' she said.

'And then when I asked him the question, he's like, "Oh it's uh, it's uh... Hilary Duff." And I was like, "Woah! How did you know that? Who told you that? It was very bizarre.'
