In the latest trailer for The Mummy, star Tom Cruise finds himself up-close-and-personal with evil.

Playing the reluctant hero Nick Morton, the 54-year-old action star must literally battle for his soul after being cursed by an ancient Egyptian princess.

Actress Sofia Boutella, who plays the evil Princess Ahmanet, serves an utterly demonic performance in the clip, as she unleashes her wrath on Cruise and the human world.

Facing evil: Tom Cruise battles for his soul after being cursed by an undead ancient. He's joined by sidekick Jenny Halsey, played by Annabelle Wallis

In the supernatural thriller, Cruise discovers he's been chosen by 'the ultimate evil' after surviving a deadly plane crash and waking up in a body bag.

'You are alive because you were cursed,' explains Dr. Henry Jeckyll (yes, that Dr. Jeckyll) who is played by Russell Crowe.

The doctor says, 'It takes a monster to defeat a monster,' revealing that the cursed Nick himself must face off with the ancient evil.

Run for your life! The New York native and English actress join forces to face the evil princess

'Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters,' says the doc before the real action begins.

Joined by sidekick Jenny Halsey, played by Annabelle Wallis, Nick then tries to hunt down the ancient Ahmanet and undo his hex.

But the duo face much more than they bargained for as the powerful princess begins to wage a war on the world of the living.

Cursed? Upon waking, the reluctant hero discovers he's been cursed by 'the ultimate evil.'

Two faced! Russell Crowe plays Dr. Henry Jeckyll in the film, a guardian of sorts for Nick

Scared stiff! There are tons of thrilling action sequences in the two-minute spot

Action sequences aplenty follow, showing them duke it out in the forest, underwater, while off-roading, on horseback and more.

Annabelle and Tom's character share an almost-romantic moment during an underwater cave scene where the starlet grabs his face affectionately as they try to escape.

The moment is short-lived though, as the undead quickly interrupt the pair and the adventure resumes.
