Single Red Carpet Female! Emily Ratajkowski boldly mimics Bella Hadid as she sports near-identical version of THAT Cannes slashed dress at this year's opening gala

It was the most-discussed gown of Cannes 2016.

And it seems Emily Ratajkowski was determined to garner some of the attention Bella Hadid captured last year, as she mimicked the famous 'red dress' at the 'Ismael's Ghosts' premiere and opening night gala, 70th Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old Gone Girl star slipped into a champagne coloured gown with a slinky lingerie style theme - complete with a slashed side and leg - and a near-identical shape to Bella's Alexandre Gauthier dress of last year.

Last year, Bella stole the show at the Unknown Girl premiere on 18 May 2016 as she sported the red gown which showed off her endless legs, perky cleavage and ultimately her lingerie when she unwittingly flashed the world's press.

She admitted after the appearance that wearing the gown was 'a bit scary' yet she was delighted to have 'so much nice feedback which was exciting.'

Never one to shy away from attention, Emily, who was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, appeared to desire Bella's year-old impact as she slipped into her own champagne edition of the gown - with hardly any difference between the two save for the colours.

The slashed dress showed off her model legs while spaghetti straps tumbled down to a drop side which gave a generous glimpse of sideboob, with her famous assets providing a show-stopping element to the look.

Dress up in champagne satin in Twinset like Emily

It's her third outfit change of the day and for the pinnacle of her Cannes, EmRata went with champagne blush satin in a hip grazing length. Labels are clamoring to dress her, but this custom comes courtesy of Twin Set by Simona Barbieri. It's a style very similar to other red carpet dresses we've seen at Cannes, but EmRata's stunning jewelry (real!) sets her look apart.

The simple round neckline is devoid of any embellishments and allows the millions of dollars worth of gems to really shine. And the popular hue of the season really shows up nicely on her deep tan.

As Emily's dress is a custom, it's not availble to buy. However, this being the color of the season, there are plenty of blush and champagne satin gowns to choose from. Our top picks are here!

Bella... is that you? The duo of gowns were remarkably similar

To add to the 'Single White Female' (a movie in which a stalker mimics the life and looks of her room mate), nature of the look, her hair was worn in an elegant chignon with a sweeping side fringe - in a beauty look extraordinarily similar to her fellow model and seeming fashion inspiration's look last year.

Differing slightly in her choice, Emily wore drooling jewels around her neck in a spectacular chain strung with diamonds, rubies and emeralds - which she had posed in earlier in the day in a topless Instagram snap.

Once again borrowing from Bella, she wore a smouldering eye shadow combination, with bronze, copper and gold hues making for a dazzling look while her plump pout was puckered with a natural lip gloss shade.

Joining her on Wednesday night's red carpet was Bella who opted for a similar colour to Emily in a bustier style gown, once again designed by Alexandre Gauthie, while yet again flashing her lingerie.

Despite the seeming dress faux pas, Bella still greeted Emily with a warm kiss - shunning the glaring collaboration of gowns.

Emily has already been keenly making her mark on the annual film festival, as she has already taken to the beach in the scantiest of swimwear in addition to her saucy topless snaps from behind the scenes.

After the furore over last year's look, Bella, who is younger sister to Gigi, told Glamour magazine: 'I'm usually very simple with my red carpet looks - I tend to just wear black - so this was a big risk. I was sort of scared about it, but I've had so much nice feedback which was exciting.'

Calling the gown the 'riskiest thing' she'll wear in a while, Bella added that she would probably 'tone down' her next few outfits.

And when asked how she navigated the tricky problem of underwear - commentators speculated that she might have gone commando - Bella revealed that she was actually wearing an extremely high-waisted leotard.

Who's who? The looked were remarkably similar - down to cut, style and beauty details
