'Does it make me angry? No': Goldie Hawn, 71, talks ageism in Hollywood as she shows her playful side in Harper's Bazaar shoot

Goldie Hawn tries not to fret about ageism in Hollywood.

The 71-year-old star discusses the matter in the June/July issue of Harper's Bazaar in which she poses for a playful photoshoot proving she's still the life of the party.

The Snatched star says she isn't fazed by the unrealistic beauty standards in showbiz, as she explains: 'You think you’re going to fight the system? You think you’re going to prove to Hollywood when you hit 45 that you’re still a sexy, viable object? No.

'There’s a certain reality. Does it make me angry? No. I’m not an angry person. I’m not a militant person. Anger doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s not productive.'

Hawn is coming out of a 15-year hiatus from the big screen and stars in mother-daughter comedy Snatched with comedian Amy Schumer.

Recalling the moment she met the Inside Amy Schumer star, Hawn revealed: 'Amy laughed and said, "I know you don’t know who I am," and I actually didn't. But I could have eaten her face, she was so damn cute.'

Schumer, 35, said of the moment: 'I accosted her on a plane. I waited until we landed, then approached her and said there was a movie I was working on and I wanted her to play my mom.'

Hawn goes on to share her thoughts about the sexism she faced in Hollywood when making her hit movie The First Wives Club.

'Even though we were all stars, [Hollywood] was nervous about the movie…we all took a cut in our salary, we all took a cut in our back end. Because the studios were never sanguine on trusting that women carrying a movie would actually work.'

The mother-of-three reflected on a time at the beginning of her showbiz career when she was criticized by feminists for playing a ditzy character in '60s sketch-comedy Laugh-In.

'An editor from a women's magazine came up to me and said, "Don't you feel terrible that you're playing a dumb blonde?" I said, "I don't understand that question because I'm already liberated. Liberation comes from the inside."'
