The stunner is currently in Cannes to showcase her new Netflick's film Okja, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton.

The film follows Mija, a young girl who risks it all to to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend, a giant pig named Okja.

Lily plays Red in the Bong Joon Ho directed flick while Tilda undertakes the role of villainous Lucy Mirando opposite Jake's Dr. Johnny Wilcox and Paul Dano's, Jay.

The film has been under much scrutiny since it was revealed that it would be one of 19 films competing at the renowned film festival after Netflix announced it wouldn't be brought to French cinemas.

And the furore doesn't appear to be dying down as the online streaming service faced embarrassment at the Cannes Film Festival when the world premiere of the $50million movie was stopped because of a technical glitch.

The movie was booed by some in the audience after the Netflix logo appeared at the beginning.

The movie was forced to stop in its first five minutes after the audience booed the Netflix logo when they realised it was being viewed in the wrong aspect ratio, which the festival have deemed a 'technical glitch'.

Following the heckling, the film was restarted without explanation, leaving journalists and film lovers unimpressed alike, tweeting about the 'chaos' in the screening room said riots were about to break out.

'Okja starts, huge boos at Netflix logo. Then film plays in wrong aspect ratio and Grand Lumiere almost rioted. Movie stopped,' IndieWire's David Ehrlich said.

French journalist Elena Lazic tweeted: 'That didn't start well. Screen not open properly, significantly cropped at top. 20 riotous minutes before projectionist stopped projection.'

According to the BBC's Laura Turner: 'There was shouting from the upper seats and it became apparent the aspect ratio was wrong, so they restarted it after about 10 minutes.

'The second time around the audience booed the Netflix logo again. But there was also some cheering at the same time and a warm round of applause at the end.'

The festival quickly issued an apology, insisting the error was technical and not anti-Netflix sabotage.

Audience member Ernesto Garratt, a journalist with the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, said the crowd started booing partly because the aspect ratio was wrong [which cut off the edges of the picture] but also because of the distribution dispute.

'They were booing for both reasons', he said.

Staff adjusted the curtains at the side of the screen and restarted the film from the beginning shortly afterwards and there was a warm round of applause at the end.

Earlier this week, Cannes jury chair Pedro Almodovar agreed that films should have to be screened in cinemas if producers wanted them to be considered.

Director of Okja, Bong Joon Ho, said he 'loved working with Netflix', saying it was a luxury to be given such an enormous budget.

A statement from the Cannes Film Festival told MailOnline: 'A technical incident disrupted the beginning of the screening of Bong Joon-ho’s film, OKJA, which was shown this morning at a press screening at the Lumière Auditorium.

'The session was interrupted for a few minutes but was then able to carry on as normal.

'This incident was entirely the responsibility of the Festival’s technical service, which offers its apologies to the director, his teams, the producers and the audience at the showing.'
