'It's the easy way out': Caitlyn Jenner, 67, discusses contemplating suicide and her children catching her wearing women's clothing in tell-all Loose Women interview

She's been doing the promotional rounds as she discusses her new book, The Secrets Of My Life.

And Caitlyn Jenner bravely opened up about the difficulty of her transition during her Loose Women interview on Wednesday, chatting to Jane Moore and Linda Robson about the deep psychological impact her 2015 journey had on both herself and her family.

The 67-year-old star, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, confessed that she contemplated suicide at her lowest point - but stopped herself because she wanted to be a role model for others going through the same experience.

Quizzed why she stopped herself pulling the trigger of the gun she had bought, Caitlyn mused: 'It's the easy way out - sometimes you get to that point in life, you think about that. TMZ and the press were destroying me.

'I knew they were coming out with a story about a trachea shave. I said, "Isn't that stupid, I need to be a voice, I don't need to silence myself". It wouldn't do any good whatsoever.'

Recalling how she became adept at secretly dressing up as a woman, Caitlyn confessed she was caught out one or twice by her youngest children Kendall and Kylie Jenner. 

The star said: 'At 7 or 8 i was dressing up in my mum's clothes. Nobody knew! That's why I had secrets. I got very good at hiding.

'One thing I'm proud of, I never got caught. I got caught once or twice by the kids on the security cameras though.

'They were very young, I don't think they fully understood. But my whole family knew. There's knowing and then there's talking about it'.

Caitlyn - who is a biological parent to Kylie, Kendall, Brody, Brandon, Burt Jenner and Cassandra Marino, and a step-parent to Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian - admitted that she was more concerned about her family's reaction to her transition than anything else. 

She said: 'I always worry about it affecting my children. You wonder how its going to affect other people. I'm a better person now that I was back then.

'Some have more difficulty than others dealing with it, but it's a work in progress.'

Caitlyn - who recently admitted she had undergone a full sex change - confessed she was finally 100 per cent happy with her body and who she is.

She said: 'There's nothing else to be done. Everything's in place! I'm all here. It's about whats between your eyes, not what's between your legs.

'It took my entire life to come to that decision. You're no more a woman after the surgery - it's about who you are.'

Caitlyn continued: 'I am extraordinarily confident with my body now, that took a long time. It's nice to be able to wake up in the morning and be yourself, it's so simple.'

On the suggestion transgender women will never be real women, Caitlyn said: 'I do agree – my journey to womanhood was very different. It took a very, very long time. I missed out on a lot of things of womanhood. 

'I did not experience a lot of things of womanhood, I did not feel sex discrimination growing up, periods all of that, I never have to deal about getting pregnant, just getting other women pregnant – that was my problem – I was on a hot streak there for a while.

'There was a lot of things I never did have to deal with. So I am very comfortable with the word ‘you are a transwoman’ because my experience was different than most woman.' 

Speaking about relationships, Caitlyn was asked whether she’ll have a male or female companion, but insisted dating wan't important at this point in her life. 

She replied: 'I have no idea. It would be a good person, I am not looking for that in my life. No, [I’m not dating] I have no real desire. I’ve already been through all of that. My life is full of family so I don’t have a great desire for that.'
