A dazzling afternoon appearance on the French Riviera proved to be little more than a precursor for Eva Herzigová's rather more glamorous appearance at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony on Wednesday evening.

The former Wonderbra model, 44, opted for a glittering gold evening dress from Roberto Cavalli Couture for an appearance on the iconic Croisette ahead of the curtain-raising premiere of French drama Ismael’s Ghost.

A heavily embellished detail and daring thigh-high slash ensured Eva stood out on a night dedicated to high-profile red carpet arrivals.

Strappy heels added to the look, while a matching gold clutch continued a recurring colour scheme as she posed for photos before making her way inside the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès.

Diamond encrusted chandelier earrings gave the overall look a sophisticated flourish, and they glittered as she walked beneath the beaming lights that illuminated the red carpet.

Styling her tousled blond bob with a side parting, the newly engaged star revealed a naturally pretty face, accentuated by soft touches of make-up.
