'Beloved friend, actress, and comic genius': Steve Martin leads tributes to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels co-star Glenne Headly who died aged 62

Steve Martin has led the tributes to his Dirty Rotten Scoundrels co-star Glenne Headly, who died on Thursday aged 62.
The actress, who enjoyed a long and successful career, was perhaps best known for trumping Martin and Michael Caine's conmen in the 1988 classic comedy.
'Our household mourns the sudden loss of beloved friend, actress, and comic genius, Glenne Headly,' the actor tweeted.

Many of the thespian's peers joined the condolences, including Tom Hanks who wrote: 'Terribly sad to learn of Glenne Headly passing.'
At the time of her death she was shooting Seth Rogen's pilot comedy series for Hulu, Future Man.
Currently in post-production, she plays Diane, a pot-smoking over-nurturing mother to Josh Hutcherson, who also shared an emotional post on Instagram.
'I only knew the talented, empathetic, loving, beautiful Glenne Headly for a short time,' the 24-year-old wrote.

'She was powerful and strong and hilarious. Her eyes brought to life so many amazing characters over the years and her love brought to life a beautiful family.
'I'm gonna miss her presence, her smile, and the way she made me feel like her son before, between, and after they called action and cut.
The Hunger Games star added: 'Grab onto those who make you feel loved. My heart is broken today and I can only imagine what those closest to her are going through. My broken heart goes out to all of you as well.

Captioning a picture of a beautiful sunset above his hometown in Kentucky, he finished: 'I love my family and friends so much. I hope you all feel it. With lead hearts we are going to celebrate the irreplaceable Glenne Headly. LOVE'
Future Man exec producer Seth Rogen tweeted: 'Devastated to hear about Glenne Headly's passing. She was an amazing person. Incredibly talented. Incredibly kind. I will miss her.'
According to Deadline, she had shot five episodes so far; showrunners are not considering recasting her part, and are instead rewriting her death into the show.
A spokesperson for the Emmy-nominated actress confirmed the sad news on Friday.

'It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Glenne Headly,' they said in a statement. 'We ask that her family’s privacy be respected in this difficult time.'
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed; but according to TMZ, she had checked into a hospital last week to get treatment for blood clots.
A source said she 'seemed to be getting better', before things took a turn Thursday.
Headly was married to John Malkovich from 1982 to 1988. They split after he had an affair with his Dangerous Liasons co-star Michelle Pfeiffer.

After her breakout role in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, she followed up with another lead as Dick Tracy's girlfriend Tess Trueheart, opposite Warren Beatty.
A member of Steppenwolf Theatre Company, she received a number of stage awards throughout her career.
She was also twice nominated for Primetime Emmy's for Outstanding Supporting Actress: for her 1989 debut TV role in Lonesome Dove, and her 1996 turn in Bastard Out Of Carolina.
Notable roles: She played Richard Dreyfuss's wife in his Oscar nominated film Mr Holland's Opus
Comedy: She played Lindsay Lohan's mother in 2009's Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
She starred alongside her then-husband Malkovich three times: the 1987 comedy Making Mr Right; the 1985 war drama Eleni; and the 1983 TV movie Say Good Night Gracie.
Other noted roles include Mr Holland's Opus, Mortal Thoughts, Sgt Bilko, and Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen on the big screen, and ER and Monk on the small.
Her most recent feature film was as Emma Watson's mother in The Circle; her on-screen husband was Bill Paxton, who died from complications following heart surgery in February, aged 61.
