Chris was dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans as he dropped his son off at a friend's birthday party in Beverly Hills.
But there was no sign of his comedy actress wife Anna Faris who he has been married to for five years.
The star is having an impressive year career-wise - along with the success of Guardians, he is back filming the final season of comedy Parks & Recreation and was recently announced as host of the season premiere of Saturday Night Live!

'Hosting SNL! That was high on the bucket list! Right up there with hunting human,' he wrote on his Twitter page following the announcement.
The star will be joined by musical guest Ariana Grande on the variety show when it airs on September 27.
Then there's the planned sequel to Guardians Of The Galaxy and a role for the star in Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World where he will play a scientist alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson and Judy Greer.
'Dude, it’s going to be so good,' he told The Mirror about the film, which is set to be released next year. 'I’m precious about Jurassic Park and I would not want them to f*** it up.
'This is new and cutting edge, it has a point of view about how society has changed since the original came out.'
And the star has been modest about his rise to fame, telling CNN: 'You know, I feel like, jeez, it's been cool, it's been really cool.
'I came to Hollywood expecting to do everything but not really knowing what that looked like. So I was just as excited when I got my first commercial as I am now, you know what I mean?
'I have enjoyed this entire journey, the whole time I have been at this for 15 years. My enthusiasm has been turned up to 10 since about 2001 when I didn't have to be a waiter anymore.'
