'We are two peas in a pod!': Cameron Diaz says she loves husband Benji Madden's 'values' adding they are 'just weird enough for each other'

Cameron Diaz has shied away from the spotlight ever since marrying Good Charlotte rock star Benji Madden in 2015.

But on Sunday the 44-year-old blonde beauty made an appearance at close friend Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP seminar in Culver City, California.

And after being asked point blank about her marriage by Paltrow, Diaz chatted up her spouse.

When asked by Gwyneth why she waited till 40 to get married, Cameron shot back: 'Forty-one!'

She then said it just took a while to find Mr Right.

'I think it's a matter of I just hadn't met my husband, you know?'

She then added: 'I had boyfriends before. And there's a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends.'

Past beaus include Alex Rodriguez, P Diddy, Justin Timberlake, Jared Leto and Matt Dillon.

'And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything.

'Talk about two very different people! We are so different from one another, but we share the same values—we're totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other.'

She also gushed about the musician: 'I never experienced that before. I'd never been loved in that way. I look at him every day and he inspires me—he works so hard. I feel so lucky.' 

Cameron then hinted that Benji didn't treat her as a hot Hollywood pinup. 

'We women are objectified so much,' she said.

'Somehow my husband has just been able to kind of show me what it's like not to have that be a part of a relationship, and being an equal.'

Her sister in law Nicole Richie was also there.

She said that they are 'a very close family.'

And she has had her husband Joel Madden to lean on: 'They rely on each other. When we got together it was like, you're just in the family. It's a large support system.'
