'We just want to see how tight your a** is': Emmy Rossum was asked to audition for a role in a bikini so director could see if she 'was fat now'

Emmy Rossum was the subject of a pretty shameless request from a casting director.

The actress told The Hollywood Reporter that a director recently asked to see her in a bikini to see if she 'was fat now.' 

During the magazine's annual Comedy Actress Roundtable, the 30-year-old reveled she was asked to strip down for an audition for a role that required zero nudity.

'Even as recently as a year ago, my agent called me and was like, "I'm so embarrassed to make this call, but there's a big movie and they're going to offer it to you",' she recalled.

'"They really love your work on the show. But the director wants you to come into his office in a bikini. There's no audition. That's all you have to do."

'He wanted to know if I was fat now. That was basically the question.'

She admitted that for a moment she considered doing it; not wanting to jump to conclusions, she ask to be sent the script to see why it was important for the character to strip down.

'Not in a bikini in the movie. Not naked in the movie,' she recounted.

She then paraphrased for the unnamed director:  "We really love your work, but we just want to see how tight your ass is."

'Are you f*cking kidding me? Last time I checked, I'm not a f*cking model,' she said.

The star, who frequently appears naked on Shameless, has no problem doing so if it isn't gratuitous and serves the role. 

Joining her at the Roundtable was 50-year-old Better Things star Pamela Adlon, who recalled an even less appropriate request by a director when she was just 15.

'You're always supposed to have a guardian on set when you're a minor, but mine was gone, and we did a scene where we broke into a house and then we go swimming in the pool,' she remembered.

'The scene is over, and I have a towel on, and the director comes over to me and he goes, "Pam, it would be really funny if you dropped the towel and we could just see your butt, like, really fast." 

'I was very sheltered. I know it seems crazy, I just didn't know what the f*ck to do. I was humiliated,' she continued.

'And I found some strength of this me, now, where I said, "I don't feel comfortable doing that." I was really upset that he even asked me because this is a grown man. 

She said that on the same movie she had to kiss a boy - which she had never done before - when the director gave her another suggestion.

He said to me, "An apple is an apple, a plum is a plum. A kiss isn't a kiss without the tongue." And I was like, "I'm going to die."
