Midwest League Managers

DeMarlo Hale

One Midwest League season:

Playing Career

  • Drafted/Signed: Red Sox, 17th round (June draft), 1983 (First baseman, Southern University)
  • Professional Career: Five years in the Boston and Oakland organizations, largely at the Double-A level.
  • Midwest League: Played for Madison in 1988.

Management style

Hale, more than most managers, adjusts his tactics to the talent at hand. That said, he's fairly conservative in most respects. Though he generally resists the running game, his minor league teams have had a history of recklessness. And he's usually been pretty willing to call for a bunt.
