A few weeks ago we quietly celebrated RU’s third birthday. We are so proud to look back over the array of talented visiting professors who have shared their craft knowledge, their publishing journeys and sometimes just their thoughts on surviving as an author. In the beginning, we set out to help writers advance their careers. We didn’t count on having such terrific readers and making friends.
So, as RU moves into its fourth year, Kelsey, Adrienne and Tracey have decided the time has come for them to take a small step back and let Carrie, Becke, Jen and Robin steer the ship. Tracey, Adrienne and Kelsey aren’t going away, but like any growing entity, sometimes a change in direction helps keep content fresh.
Today, we are celebrating RU’s first three years before we launch into the next chapter of our beloved blog. Along with the celebration we have some great giveaways, so hang out with us as Kelsey, Adrienne and Tracey tell us what they’ve learned on their RU journey.
Adrienne Giordano
This is an easy question. Aside from the knowledge I’ve gained from not only our generous visiting professors, but from our readers as well, I’ve learned I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I’ve also learned that the right group of people working together can be an inspiring process. Kelsey, Tracey and I had a vision of what we wanted our blog to be, and we spent six months planning before we launched. The three of us may not write in the same genres, but we were as one in our vision of what RU should be. I’m thankful for that. I’m also thankful for the support Kelsey and Tracey have given me, not only with the blog, but with whatever crisis may have cropped up in the past four years. They’ve become an integral part of my support system and I’d be quite lost without them!
In its three years, our “little” blog has grown into a wonderful resource for writers at all levels. The fact that I made lifelong friends along the way is the added bonus. Yes, I’m a little sad to be handing over the reins, but I’m also thrilled about the plans Carrie, Becke, Jen and Robin have for RU.
Tracey Devlyn
The shorter question would be what haven’t I learned, but I’ll share some things that were real turning points for my career. First off, RU showed me that women could work closely together and not kill each other. No, no, I kid. Well, only a little. I recall Kelsey making a statement once that if the three of us could get through all the decisions of building the website without “breaking up” then we could get through anything. She was right.
RU also taught me how to be fearless. How to stick my neck out there no matter how sharp the ax. For the blog, I contacted numerous publishing professionals and found that they’re as generous and genuine as any of our other Visiting Professors (Pssst, they’re not scary!). And speaking of generosity, RU showed me, on a whole new level, how fabulous the romance community is to its members…and beyond. I love everything about the business and writing process—even the icky and disappointing parts. Because I have the two best buds—Adrienne and Kelsey—at my side.
I’m so incredibly happy that Carrie, Jen, Becke, and Robin are keeping Romance University alive and have all manner of new programming planned (more on that Friday). A huge thanks to our readers for visiting us often and sharing your journey. And an even bigger thanks to all our Visiting Professors and monthly columnists who have given of their knowledge and precious time. Muwah!
Kelsey Browning
Oh, to name only one thing I’ve learned by creating and running RU with these fabulous women? Impossible! I’m going to pull the Southern girl card and claim long-windedness is in my blood.
I’ve learned teamwork and trust are two powerful forces when it comes to accomplishing goals. If you have other people rooting for you and watching your back, you can concentrate on doing your very best work. But if you don’t trust the people watching your back? Sure hope you hid the kitchen knives. Just saying. Tracey, Adrienne and I trusted each other to devote the time, money and hard work it took to launch and maintain RU. I’m glad to say we’re all still on speaking terms, continue to be CPs and even share hotel rooms with no fear of being smothered with a pillow during the night.
Lesson two is decide on your definition of quality and don’t compromise those standards in your work. When we brainstormed RU, we knew we wanted it to be a high-quality learning site for genre writers. We didn’t want to accept advertisers or monetize the site in any way. Call us crazy, perhaps. But our definition of quality was educational and enjoyable, without commercial distractions. Looking back over the posts from the past three years, I feel we’ve upheld those standards and know Carrie, Jen, Robin and Becke will do the same going forward.
Here’s a biggie and one I forgot for a while in my own writing work: Do not be afraid to ask for what you want. When we started RU, we asked editors, agent and writers—some biggies!—to be visiting professors by selling them on our premise alone. Know what? The majority said yes. And once they saw the site, they definitely said yes. In three years, I’d bet we’ve had less than 10 people say no.
And last? I’ve learned professionalism is always in style. Do what you tell people you’ll do. I don’t believe we’ve ever missed a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday post because that’s what we promised our readers from the start. And we’ve certainly tried to treat our guests and commenters with respect and appreciation. So I want to say to you all—fellow faculty members, many visiting professors, monthly columnists and wonderful readers—thank you for supporting this site we love so much. We hope you’ll continue your support as the other ladies take RU to new heights!
You’ll still see the three of us around RU as Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin have been kind enough to let us sign on as quarterly columnists. But for now, please help us celebrate three fabulous years and raise a toast to the new RU!
—
To help us celebrate, we’ve recruited some of our friends to help. Our fabulous pals are offering some great giveaways. Here’s the list of what you could win. Hello to all RU crew!
I’ve connected with RU over time and found you all to be very professional and curteous.
Congratulations on this three fabulous years and here’s more to come!
Thanks for the great giveaways!
Thanks, Nas! We’ve worked hard to provide a professional (and fun!) blog. Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you, Nas. It’s been a terrific ride!
RU is such a wonderful resource. Thank you for all the hard work you all do behind the scenes, and I look forward to more inspiring posts. Happy third birthday!
Shelley, thanks so much for joining us today and for participating in our lectures. We’ve made so many friends–like you!–over the last three years.
HI, Shelley. Thank you! Don’t tell the ladies but I peeked at Friday’s post and RU readers are in for a treat. It’s going to be another great year at RU.
Happy Birthday! Now that I’ve found this site I need to visit more often.
Thank you ladies for three great years! I’m a bit of a lurker here and appreciate this site so much.
I can’t wait to see else is in store!
Congrats and thanks!
Sabrina Shields
Sabrina, we love lurkers! You’re gonna love Friday’s big announcement of RU’s new programming.
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to pop in and say hello to everyone and to thank our giveaway contributors. So many wonderful prizes!!
I hope the authors who donated a book for the NOOK will pop in and tell us a little about their story. So awesome to see their covers flashing above.
Hugs, Tracey
You guys know how much I love you. Thank you for Romance University!
Robin
And we love you! You guys will do a wonderful job with our baby. I’m excited!
Robin –
If anyone can take RU to new and great places, it’s you, Carrie, Jen and Becke. Thank you for your willingness to keep RU online and growing, even with your current commitments. What’s that saying? If you want something done, ask a busy woman. You’re that woman, Robin!
Big, big hugs,
Kels
Right back atcha, Robin! We were so happy when you agreed to join RU. You’ve introduced us to some wonderful visiting professors.
RU is an amazing resource especially for us new kids. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you, Lynn. Tracey, Kelsey and I were newbies when we started RU. Our goal was to have one resource where we could find answers to all the questions we had to bounce around looking for. It makes me proud to hear someone describe the site as amazing.
I’m so glad you enjoy the site.
Good luck in the transition!
Thanks, Anna!
Ladies, thank you for such a wonderful resource in RU. Congratulations on a job well done!
Sharon, thank you!!
*group hugs* =) Cheers and Happy Birthday wishes to three of the best ladies I know! Love ya!
=)
carrie
Back at ya, sister! I’m not sure what we would have done without you these past couple of years. You were such an amazing addition to the blog and saved our butts on many occasions. You helped us build RU into the resource it is and I’m incredibly grateful to you for that.
Now, I’m having this problem with my website…kidding!
Amen to not knowing what we would’ve done without Carrie these past two years. She’s our technical rock and just tons of fun to boot!
Carrie – thanks for coming along on this ride with us. I can’t wait to support everything the RU crew will do from here on out!
Hugs,
Kels
Carrie, you’ve been a gem since the first day RU opened. Thanks for all your support and friendship.
I’m a lurker too but wanted to say big congrats on a fantastic first three years and may the next three be even better!!
Thank you, Xandra!
Kelsey, Tracey, and Adrienne,
You three have been a huge inspiration the last three years. I’m so thrilled for all your successes and coming successes. You’ve given the romance community a wonderful gift, and I’ll always respect and admire each of you for it.
Wishing you all the very best!!!
Jamie
Okay. Now I may cry. These comments are killing me! LOL.
Jamie, thank you. It’s been an amazing few years. When we started RU I was an unpublished, unagented author trying to break in. Three years later I have four books out and have a terrific agent. Kelsey, Tracey and the RU Crew have been there with me the whole way, so even though I’m a little sad today, I’m appreciative of the gifts in my life.
Jamie –
You just snuck right here in the middle and dropped a big compliment. For those of you who don’t know, Jamie is another of my fab CPs.
Thank you! It always makes me happy to know when you pop by RU.
We need to Skype soon!
Hugs,
K-
Definitely on the Skyping!!
All three of you ladies deserve big compliments, and I meant to add earlier, I know you’re leaving RU in fantastic hands. I’m a self-confessed lurker, and I’ll still be here Friday.
-j
Thanks, Jamie! It’s been such an honor to be part o the RU community. Thanks for all your support!
Best wishes for the group moving on and the new group taking over.
Susan, thank you!!
Good luck with the transition and major congrats to the ladies who are taking up the lead for the future
Sandy –
Thanks so much for your support of RU! Although I don’t post on the GIAM loop as often anymore, I always love hearing what you’re up to because your productivity is such an inspiration to me. Hmmm…I sense a guest post here somewhere – :-).
Kels
The three of you have done a great job and will be missed. Good luck to the new kids on the block. Marian
Thank you, Susan, Sandra and Marian. We’ll still be around, but we’re letting the ladies steer the ship from now on.
I think change is important and I know they will do a fabulous job!
I love Romance University! I’ve found it to be most helpful as I progress in my writing career, and you three have been largely responsible for making it such. Good luck in your future endeavors.
Wow, Becky. Thank you! That was our goal when we started RU, so I’m thrilled we were able to help in some way. Terrific!
I count myself lucky to have found RU, both as a Visiting Professor and a reader. You all have brought so much enlightenment and fun to the romance community. Thank you, Adrienne, Tracey and Kelsey. And here’s to continued success under the new leadership!
Hello to one of our favorite Visiting Professors. You know we have a special love for you. You’ve been such a wonderful friend to us. I’m so grateful!
Amy –
Thanks for your generosity with your time and effort. Your posts have benefited so many RU readers. And thanks also for your generosity in the giveaways today – books, Author EMS memberships and a portion of the Nook – Oh my!
Big, humongous hugs!
Kels
Thank you for all the amaing information you so graciously share with all of us.
Looking forward to what is coming up next!
Di
Di –
I know you won’t be disappointed by what Carrie, Jen, Becke & Robin have in store for you.
Thanks for supporting RU and commenting today!
Kelsey
Best of luck for the future!
Thanks, Liese –
You’ll be hearing from all of us – lots of great things in store at RU!
Kelsey
I have loved your site for three years and I know Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin will do an awesome job!
Sharon –
You couldn’t be more right about Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin doing a fabulous job. They’ve brought so much energy to RU over the past year or so. I can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves for the future!
Kelsey
Wow! You and your friends are so generous.
I have only been following RU for about 6 months (when I learned about it) and as a reader only I have really enjoyed it. It is almost a “behind the scenes” look at what writers do so it has been very educational to me, too! I have enjoyed it so much that I have recommended my sister follow RU. When I learned that she was writing a contemporary romance story I immediately told her about this website. She tells me she is just writing as a creative outlet and doesn’t plan to do much but thought she could definitely learn some things even if she is just writing for fun. Thank you for all you do for your writers (and readers)! I look forward to the future of RU!
Thank you, Amy. I think it’s terrific that a non-writer enjoys the site.
Thanks also for being a loyal reader and for passing the word about RU!
Hi Amy, It’s so great to know non-writers are enjoying our site, too! Thanks so much for hanging out with us.
Thanks ladies for three great years! I’ve been a follower for a long time, first as a bright-eyed hopeful who soaked up all the wisdom I could, and now as a bright-eyed pre-published author. Who still soaks up the wisdom. I can’t even begin to tell you all I’ve learned – every post teaches me something. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you and I’m looking forward to the years with Carrie, Becke, Jen and Robin! Good luck to you all.
Kat –
Thank YOU for being a frequent commenter. It’s folks like you that helped us keep going over the past few years. We can’t wait to hear about when you go from bright-eyed pre-pubbed author to NYT bestselling author!
Kelsey
Kat, thanks! It’s been a joy watching all of your successes this past year. Thanks for sharing your fab turning points with us. So inspiring!
Kelsey, Tracey, and Adrienne,
Thanks so much for the last two and a half years or so that I’ve been visiting RU. I no longer remember how I heard about this site, but I know it was soon after I first wrote “Chapter 1″.
Since then, I’ve learnt a tremendous amount from the visiting professors and the RU crew.
Good luck to the ladies taking over the helm.
Cia
Thank you Kat and Cia. You’ve both been such loyal followers and we so appreciate it!
Cia –
You’re a doll to have commented so often here at RU. Comments like yours help us know that all the blood, sweat and tears of building and maintaining this site have been well worth it!
Best of luck in your writing!
Kels
Tracey, Kelsey and Adrienne – Your inspiration and effort in creating RU has helped so many writers (myself included) improve their craft. THANK YOU!!
Thank you, Becke. We’re leaving our baby in capable hands!
It means a lot that you trust us with it. I wish you much success, now and in the future!
Becke –
It’s been so much fun getting to know you better over the past couple of years. Now, you won’t be able to get rid of us. And I can’t wait to have my first autographed book by you – I know it’s coming soon!
Kels
I think you’ll beat me to it, Kelsey! I hope I’ll get to meet you and Adrienne and Tracey in “real life” before too long. It feels like I know you already!
Thanks, Becke! You’re such a positive force and RU is so lucky to have you on board.
Thank you guys and congratulations! I’ve learned a lot from your posts and also recently got picked to sub a full to Entangled, so I truly appreciate all you’ve done for the community!
Congratulations on the request. This is the reason we love RU so much. If we can help a writer move forward, even in a small way, it’s thrilling.
Good luck with your submission!
I hope we’ll still be seeing you three around on a regular basis. You’ve done a wonderful job at creating a supportive and educational site for writers and authors. Thank you!
Hi Wendy. Don’t worry, we’ll be around. The ladies have some terrific things in store and we’re not gonna want to miss it!
Wendy –
Thanks for being such a wonderful friend and supporter over the past few years! And yes, we’ll still be lingering here and there. Can’t get rid of us too easily – LOL.
Big hugs!
Kels
Wendy, thanks! We’ll still be around to harass everyone!
Tracey, Adrienne, Kelsey,
You cannot imagine how very much you have helped me over the past two years. Tracey handed me an RU bookmark at my first Windy City RWA meeting and I’ve been an obsessive follower since.
I’m also an avid fan, not only are you women wonderul writers but your generosity, your bond, your sheer capacity for making things happen is inspiring.
All the very best to you and to Jen, Becke, Robin and Carrie, who I have no doubt will keep the RU banner flying high.
Hugs Tears and Kisses
-Sonali
Ah, Sonali. Now you’ve done it and started the water works again!
Thank you. I’ve made so many wonderful friends through this site. We have the most awesome readers here. Such a supportive bunch.
Off to find tissues!
Sonali –
You’re such a sweetheart. I remember meeting you in person for the first time. It’s writers like you who kept us inspired to make RU better and better!
Hugs,
Kels
Sonali, you’re always such a sweetheart. Thanks for all your support and friendship.
You have created a resource I have come back to again and again. I always learn something new here, or I add to my “process” in ways that make my writing better. Thank you all.
And I’m looking forward to what the new management comes up with. Very interesting, every one of them.
Cheers,
Ann
Thank you, Ann. Stop back on Friday to see the preview of what the ladies have in mind. You won’t be disappointed.
And thanks for the fabulous reading at Lady Jane’s last night!
Ann, thanks so much!
I’ve only come to visit and LOVE RU in the past year, I feel a sense of loss knowing these amazing voices won’t be hanging around!
The positive side is that I adore the remaining crew and can’t wait to see what’s to come.
Best wishes to all!
Oh, Kelly –
You won’t get rid of Adrienne, Tracey and me that easily! Be prepared to see each of us once a quarter as columnists! It’ll be fun for us to be on the other side of the chalkboard :-).
Hugs,
Kelsey
I had the pleasure of being a visiting professor along with Simone Elkeles in the first year of this blog but really I’ve been a student here. I think I get an idea from every post about this business. It’s exciting that the three of you have become so busy with your own successes and it will be fun to see the new directions here too. Congratulations to all!
Amy –
We couldn’t have made RU what it is without our generous visiting professors. Thank you for offering your time and energy as a VP and for continuing to support us as a reader!
Kelsey
Amy, thanks for stopping by and being such a good friend to RU!
Ladies-your blog is fabulous, as are all of you (hugs to fellow giam-ers) We wish the new-guard as much success as the founders.
RR –
The support of the GIAM community has been a huge part of RU’s success over the past few years. It’s no surprise that we’ve recruited faculty and visiting professors from the GIAM ranks!
Thanks so much!
Kelsey
Hi RU crew,
What have I learned from you? To step out of my shell and engage with people on the Internet. I will not admit how many times I would stalk this website and not respond. You made it easy and comfortable for me. Many thanks and great success in the future.
Mary Jo
Mary Jo –
We’re SO glad you chose to come out of your shell at RU. You’ve made so many wonderful and insightful comments here. It’s been great to have loyal commenters like you!
Please keep in touch with Tracey, Adrienne and me!
Kels
Mary Jo, you’re one of our fabulous regulars. We really appreciate all the support and participation.
I’ve followed RU for a while and learned a lot about craft, but I also learned what talented generous people the ‘permanent’ crew are.
Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin will be awesome as the new captains – I’m curious about this new direction – but I’m glad y’all will still be on board.
Cathy –
Thanks for being a continued supporter of RU!
There’s no other folks besides these ladies that Tracey, Adrienne and I would rather entrust our “baby” with. They’re going to help that baby grow and improve!
Kelsey
Congratulations and happy anniversary. Three years is like forever in the blogosphere, and RU is still the same great, instructive site that it was in the beginning.
I applaud your efforts and look forward to reading the next generation of blogs.
Keena
Keena –
Thanks so much for recognizing how hard it can be to maintain a quality blog. I believe this changing of the guard will bring a renewed energy to RU, allowing for even more fabulous programming.
I can’t wait to see what all Carrie, Becke, Jen & Robin have up their brilliant and generous sleeves!
Kels
I’ve found so much inspiration from this site (and have learned so much for my “how-to” file) that RU is a daily “must visit” for me. I know its future is in good hands, so I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us. Thanks to all you lovely ladies for founding this wonderful blog and for keeping it going!
Linda –
Thank you for loving RU as we do.
What won’t change is the quality of the posts and the behind the scenes professionalism. Tracey, Adrienne and I will also be around, as our roles are changing to columnists. It will be tons of fun for us to share some more lessons learned with the RU readers!
Kelsey
I discovered RU a few months ago, but I have been diligently going through the archives to catch up on the lectures. This website is a wonderful resource for those of us starting out!
And the second place I got in the April Showers contest was the encouragement I needed to believe in my writing. Thank you!
Patricia –
That is absolutely the reason we began RU…to give writers encouragement. We’re also proud to have provided a place for writers to improve craft without having to pay for all the great resources.
Best of luck on your writing!
Kelsey
Congrats for your continued successes and upcoming changes. And best wishes for future endeavors.
It was really fun to be a guest professor with you–I’m still getting hits on my site from the lecture.
Carry on!
Franzeca
Thanks, Franzeca! It’s fabulous visiting professors like yourself that have made RU a success and great resource for writers.
Thank you for all you do!
Thanks for stopping by, Melinda!
Wow, has it been that long? I’m a lurker on a lot of sites, but this is one of my faves. Great job, guys.
Sheila Polansky/Raven Raye
Yes, can you believe 3 years have gone by? Thanks for lurking!
Three years? Already? That went by fast! I’ve always enjoyed the information here, and was thrilled when I got to do a guest post recently — it was like hitting the big time.
You’ve created a wonderful resource and community, and I have no doubts it will continue to be a great place for many years to come.
Oh, Donna, what a wonderful compliment! Thanks for being one of our fab VPs. Yes, the ladies are going to do an awesome job with RU.
Congratulations on 3 years! It’s hard to believe it’s been that long already, and doubly impressive that you’ve managed to maintain the same high-quality, informative nature throughout! Sad to see you ladies go, but excited to see what the others have up their talented sleeves!
Thanks, Cris! We tried so hard to bring readers qualiy posts every time—so thanks!
I’ve been a lurker, but I’ve always valued all the lectures of you wonderful ladies. Though you’re just dropping to the background (not vanishing altogether), your presence will be sorely missed.
Tory
Kelsey, Tracey, and Adrienne
Thanks for the inspiring blog, I have learned a lot here and I find it brave of you to let your baby go. Congratulations and every good wish for the future. I know you aren’t leaving but wanted to say it anyway.
Dawn
Thanks, Dawn! The ladies love RU as much as we do, so it was an easy decision. Today is a strangely exciting, yet tough day.
As both an avid blog reader and a visiting professor, RU has meant many things to me. I started as an unpublished, unagented writer, reading the first visiting professor post by…Brenda Novak, right? RU helped me kickstart my career, not only by providing high quality writing and publishing advice day in and day out, but also by inviting me to write about my debut author’s journey as my first book came out.
Let’s face it, with all the “noise” on the internet, it’s hard to cherry pick the good stuff. RU is that good stuff.
Thank you, Tracey, Adrienne and Kelsey. I value your friendship and have so much respect for what you’ve built here. And best of luck to Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin. I know you’ll continue to do a great job!
Laurie, If I wasn’t typing on my bitty phone keyboard, I’d write a thesis on how important you are to us at RU. For an entire year, you allowed us to follow your debut year. I can’t tell you how useful those posts were for me while I traversed. The same path not long ago. Thank you so much!
Ditto what Tracey said!
Laurie –
I can’t tell you how much it means to have you describe RU as “the good stuff.” It has been so wonderful to see your (and others’) career grow. I hope RU helps many more writers improve their craft and enhance their careers!
Thanks for being here with us for this journey!
Many, many hugs,
Kelsey
You all created a fabulous resource and a wonderful community. And even better to know it can continue while you move on to different roles! Congratulations and best wishes all around.
Blythe, thank you for all your support!
You have created such a wonderful place that is so full of energy and information – you all are incredible. Thank you for everything you’ve done.
Thanks for stopping by to say hi, Vicky!
Farewell, congrats and thanks to Adrienne, Tracey and Kelsey for bringing this fabulous resource about. All the best in your new endeavors.
I found you only recently (thanks Robin!) but you’re on my must-check list every day. The information you provide is solid gold and has helped me with everything from craft to pitching (and getting a request – yay!) and everything in between.
You’re leaving RU is great hands, but it’s still sad to see you go.
Hi Willa ( love your name),
So glad you found RU and are finding he lectures useful!
No giveaways for me. I’ve followed this blog off and on for a long time and have learned so much. Thank you, ladies, and good luck to you and the new chicks.
Hey Vicki, thanks for the well wishes!
Ladies, has it really been three years since RU started? What an amazing site and resource you have built in that time.
I was honored to be the designer who helped build the original blog, the logo and was privy to the goals and dreams that Adrienne, Kelsey and Tracey had for R.U. It’s inspiring to see that your dreams for this blog have become more than a reality – in fact, I would say that you’ve exceeded them greatly.
It takes so much time and forethought to run a site like this smoothly, and you all have done that with constant, meticulous attention, fresh content and an engaging connection to your readers. You have given back to the writing community in a big way. I’m honored that I was able to play a small part in its beginning, and I know the fabulous ladies taking the helm will do an amazing job!
I wish you three all the best! And I hope we can share drinks again at RWA this year.
(And no giveaways for me, either. Let others win.
Hi, Jeannie. Those were the days, huh? Trying to find a look that was pleasing to three girls who have exceedingly different tastes? LOL. You did it though. We should have given you a medal for that one!
Tracey and I will be at RWA. Kelsey will be globetrotting.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing this journey with us!
Ditto to what Adrienne and Kelsey said. Thanks so much!
Jeannie –
Your vision helped make RU the blog it is. Without your fabulous design, we wouldn’t have been able to attract such fabulous visiting professors.
Thank you for your help and support over the past three years. Sorry I won’t be here to share that drink at RWA!
Kelsey
Hi, all –
I wanted to let you know Tracey, Adrienne and I will be in and out today. But please know that we will respond to all comments. Thank you so much for your support of RU today and for the past three years.
We’re fortunate to have made such wonderful friends through Romance University!
Kelsey
Thanks so much for all your hard work in the past, and all the new crew will do in the future!
Joanie
Joanie –
Thank you for stopping by. I just know these ladies will provide programming that will have you coming back for more and more and more :-).
Kelsey
Kelsey, Adrienne, and Tracey – I’m a big-time lurker here but have enjoyed so many of your columns.
Your frequent postings will be missed.
Lots of luck with your writing endeavors!
Thank you, Barbara. It feels a little bit like sending my son off to school for the first time. I’ll miss RU a lot, but I’m so excited for what the ladies have in store.
Thanks for coming by!
Carrie, Becke, Jen, and Robin – congrats on your new roles, and thanks for taking over the helm.
Looking forward to your posts!
Thanks so much Barbara….=) I’m glad you unlurked for today!
I’ve had a blast at RU and loved doing guest blogs as well as reading your contributions–you all have created a wonderful, informative home on the web. Congratulations on the accomplishment and the legacy you’ll leave behind as you pass the reins to a wonderful new group of ladies.
Cheers!
Inara
Thank you, Inara for helping us bring quality posts to our readers. I’ve always said we have the best readers around!
What a great resource. Thanks for everything you do.
Thank you, Stephanie! We’ve been thrilled to do it.
An amazing journey and an amazing crew.
I remember when RU started. So exciting to see it blossom. I know the next few years will be just as helpful and inspiring. Although I visit frequently, I usually don’t comment, but today I just want to say Great Job, Adrienne, Tracey and Kelsey. Good luck.
And I’ll be looking forward to more terrific offerings as Carrie, Jen, Becke and Robin carry on.
Hi, Barb. It seems crazy that it was three years ago, doesn’t it? The time has flown!
Thanks for sticking with us!
Ladies~
Your time and work on RU has been tremendous! Incredibly supportive and friendly, and even though I rarely commented (unless I was a visiting guest author! :)) I know your work here has been incredibly valuable. And that it will go on past your time, in such competent hands? Brava!
You will be missed.
~Kris
Oh, Kris, thank you. We wanted RU to be a “safe zone” and I’m glad we’ve been able to provide that.
I have no doubt the ladies will take good care of RU. They’re the best!
Kris, thanks so for stopping by! So nice to see you here.
Congrats on 3 years!! That’s quite an accomplishment! Thank you for creating such a fabulous site.
Best wishes to Carrie, Jen, Becke, and Robin! I know you’ll continue to make RU’s star shine bright.
Sarah –
Thank you for stopping by today. I know Jen, Carrie, Becke and Robin have wonderful things in store!
Kelsey
Hi Ladies!
How bittersweet this is! I have really enjoyed being a part of RU for these wonderful years…as a writer and a visiting prof. There’s always something to learn in this crazy publishing industry and RU is a dependable, entertaining, and trustworthy place to come for valuable information, and to make treasured friends.
Thank you Adrienne, Kelsey and Tracey for establishing this wonderful and welcoming resource. Here’s wishing you even more well-deserved success in your careers!
And to Becke, Carrie, Jen, and my fellow Entagled author Robin–may you continue to florish in fine fashion here at RU. I’m looking forward to hearing about your big plans!
Thank you all!
Tracy –
Thank you for being such a great supporter and friend! It’s so wonderful to hear RU has done the job we hoped for when we began planning it almost four years ago.
Hugs,
Kelsey
I’m late as usual! I’d like to express my thanks to Kelsey, Tracey and Adrienne for asking me to join them at RU. Many thanks for your patience in showing me the ropes and answering my questions.
I know passing the torch can’t be easy, so thanks for having faith in us staffers to carry on. We’re looking forward to carrying on the tradition.
Great to see all you “lurkers” here today! Thanks for dropping by.
Jen –
I couldn’t think of four better folks to hand off RU to! I can’t wait to see the direction and energy coming in the future.
We will miss the day to day emails back and forth, but you know we’ll be around to support all of you!
Hugs,
Kelsey
Jen, we’ve really enjoyed having you on the team. I always loved that you brought new ideas to the table. Such fun times!
Jen, you’ve been an amazing addition to the team. We’ve loved all your fun ideas.
It’ll be nice to be a spectator and see what you ladies come up with!
I’ve been more of a lurker than a participator on RU, but have learned so much here. What a great group of writers that have helped so many…good luck as you step back and good luck to the ladies moving to the forefront!
Christine –
I love that we’re hearing from the lurkers today. It’s wonderful to know how RU has impacted you and others, so thanks for taking the time to comment today!
Kelsey
First time I’ve been to your site. Looking forward to finding out what you are all about.
Pamela –
Welcome to RU! I hope you’ll find just what you’re looking for and visit again and again in the future!
Kelsey
Happy Birthday RU! I always enjoy your posts. Keep on truckin’!
Thanks, Larissa!
Wow, three years! I was so honored to be asked to be a guest blogger early on, and though I haven’t spent nearly as much time here as I’ve wanted to since then, I always find excellent, helpful, heartwarming posts.
I’m very impressed with all you three have accomplished, both with RU and individually, and wish you tremendous success.
Natalie, it’s so great to see you! Yes, thank you for helping us launch RU. I remember the early days when we were terrified no one would accept our invitation to provide FREE lectures. Wow, did we underestimate the power and generosity of writers.
The power and generosity of writers isn’t unlimited or bestowed lightly. It’s a testament to YOU guys and how professional, hard-working, and talented you are that made everyone want to be part of RU.
A huge surprise! Congratulations on all your success during the last few years, and welcome to the new team!
Thanks, Linda Jo!
I am pretty new to RU, but I am so glad I found this site several months ago! I love what I’ve found so far and can’t wait to see what is to come. Thank-you for sharing, ladies, and enjoy the road ahead!
Welcome, Janel! So glad you found us.
Hey, Adrienne, Tracey & Kels ~ I learned to love y’all at GIAM x4. Then I met you guys in NY last year, and learned to love you more. I’m so impressed with what you’ve done with RU. It’s one of the few sites I visit regularly.
Thank you all for your hard work, professionalism and dedication. It’s good to pass the torch, and I know Carrie, Becke, Jen & Robin will bring new energy to an already rockin’ site. All I can say is: WOW!! & THANKS!!
Sit back and bask in the glow of a job damned well done.
Jo Anne!! So great to see you here. Thanks so much for your kind words. I hope we’ll see you in Anaheim.
Thank you, Jo Anne. You’ve been such an inspiration. Always so dedicated!
Thanks for popping by and hopefully we’ll see you in Anaheim.
Jo Anne –
You’re such a sweetie. I’ve missed you (since I’ve been a bit of a slacker on GIAM x4 lately…)!
Maybe I’ll make today “National Basking Day” – :-).
Wish I could see you in Anaheim, but I’ll be elsewhere. Let’s make a date for 2013 in Atlanta!
K-
This feels like watching a graduation ceremony — such a blend of joy and nostalgia.
I’m amazed RU is only three years old, because this is such a well-run and high-powered site that it feels like you’ve been around for ages!
Thanks to the original vision of the creators, and the new excitement of the continue-ers, it’ll always be a treat to visit this fabulous group.
Laurie, thanks for all your support and for providing wonderful lectures. Such a treat!!
