'She wants to take more control of her career': Kylie Minogue leaves Jay Z's management firm Roc Nation after two years of disappointing music sales

The last two years haven't bought her stellar chart success, and now Kylie Minogue has left Jay Z's management label Roc Nation in a bid to reignite her music career.

46-year-old Kylie is said to have cut ties with the music mogul's company following disappointing chart positions and a lack of lucrative sponsorship deals.

The move follows the star's departure from her record label Parlophone this month after 16 years.

The Sun report that Kylie had been left unhappy with how Jay Z's company, who she signed with in February 2013, were managing her career.

An insider has told the paper: 'The deal just didn't work out for either side and she thinks they didn't ever understand her as an artist.'

Kylie has confirmed her departure from Roc Nation, telling Mail Online in a statement:

'I've had an amazing time with Roc Nation and it's been fantastic to team up with them over the last two years. We got together at a period in my life when I wanted to shake things up.'

'I loved collaborating with Roc on the ‘Kiss Me Once’ album, world tour and DVD and have made great friends in the process. I’m now looking forward to my upcoming Summer gigs and embarking on new adventures.'

'And I want to thank everyone at Roc Nation who have been on this incredible ride with me.'

Kylie released her 12th studio album, Kiss Me Once a year ago. While the record, which featured contributions from Sia and Pharrell Williams peaked at number two in the UK, the singles Into the Blue and I Was Gonna Cancel landed outside the top ten, reaching number 12 and number 59 respectively.

'Her last album was nowhere near as successful as she hoped. She now wants to go into a different direction,' the insider has claimed of Kylie's future plans.

It's thought the star was also unhappy with the failure of Roc Nation to secure her some lucrative sponsorship deals.

The source suggests the Aussie star, who has been in the music business for over 25 years, has already completed work on some new music with the likes of Nile Rodgers, Disclosure and Giorgio Moroder.

Her new tunes could be released as early as next month, the insider says, adding that Kylie 'wants to take more control of her career.'

As well as her music, the former Neighbours star is also keen to resurrect her acting career and has signed up with a top agency in the US.

Kylie joined Jay Z's Roc Nation after parting ways with her manager Terry Blamey, whom she had worked with since the start of her singing career, at the beginning of 2013.

Kylie is currently gigging across Australia with her Kiss Me Once tour, the last venture she'll collaborate with Roc Nation on.
