'Backgammon is a big thing for us': Sally Humphreys lifts the lid on her far from Rolling Stones life as Ronnie Wood's wife

Ronnie Wood was notorious for his rock and roll lifestyle during The Rolling Stones' heyday.

But now that he's sober, the 67-year old and his wife Sally Humphreys, 37, are having a more placid life together enjoying cooking and board games over wild nights out.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Sally said: 'backgammon is a big thing for us.'

The theatre director says that now Ronnie's pre-show routine is to read meditation books and get good rest rather than boozing.

'He has about eight meditation books that he reads every day. They are recovery books to keep his mind focused on being sober and clean every day,' Sally says.

'You can't get complacent because you just never know if you might have a moment of weakness. It's down to him and there is a strong support network around him.

Four years ago Ronnie told the Daily Mail about his sobriety.

The Rolling Stones star said: 'The war is over. I'm not fighting or struggling – not thinking, "Can I? Can't I?" You're just like this,' he sighs, a deep contented sigh 'I'm like, "This is lovely". I don't have that burden on my shoulders.'

He also said that his friendship group has changed: 'My circle of friends has changed. You put aside friends who say 'Lets go and get ripped'. Kate's a mate but I don't see a lot of her these days,' he commented.

A year later, Wood's confirmed he was to marry Sally after six months of dating, and on 21 December 2012 the couple tied the knot.

Around 50 guests watched Ronnie and Sally exchange vows inside the penthouse suite at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Wood’s longtime buddies Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart attended.
