The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is an annual event celebrating some of the world's foremost
secondary biology students. Each of the approximately 60 participating countries may select up to four
of its most talented secondary biology students to compete for prestigious medals. During this
week-long event, these gifted youth from both the developing and developed world will engage each other
in a variety of social activities, explore the diversity of our province and the heart of the Olympiad,
challenge intensive theory and practical biology examinations that will be facilitated by a panel of
over 200 international experts.
2007 marks the first year the IBO has come to North America, and competitions for the 18th
International Biology Olympiad will be held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan from July 15-22, 2007. The University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology are the
official sites. We are looking forward to seeing you in Saskatoon!
We are pleased to announce His Honour the Honourable Dr. Gordon L. Barnhart, the Lieutenant Governor of
Saskatchewan, as our Honourary Patron and The Honourable Dr. Lynda Haverstock as our Honourary Chair.
