Speaking to Elle US about the steamy sex scene with Dario, played by Michiel Huisman, which got tongues wagging in the fourth season of GOT, she laughed: 'It’s brilliant.

'I actually went up to [GOT co-creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss] and thanked them.

'I was like, "That’s a scene I’ve been waiting for!" Because I get a lot of cr*p for having done nudes scenes and sex scenes.'

And changing into her final ensemble, a head-turning top and feather skirt by Prada with intricate bead detail, she voiced her disappointment at being judged by other women.

'That, in itself, is so anti-feminist. Women hating on other women is just the problem. That’s upsetting,' she admitted, adding: 'So it’s kind of wonderful to have a scene where I was like, ‘There you go!’

Emilia went on to admit the pressure of living up to expectations surrounding her lead character has given her sleepless nights.

Posing in a pretty floral D&G corset, Emilia revealed: 'I get sleepless nights over it'.

And revealing that she is her own harshest critic, she recalls thinking: ‘Oh, you’re gonna mess it up. It’s the last season, and it’s going to go wrong.’

'My mates are like, "It’s you—you [and Daenerys] are one and the same now. You need to trust your instincts!" And I’m like, "No, I’ve got to do more research!"

'The higher everyone places the mantle, the bigger the fall. That sounds really awful, but it’s true! I don’t want to disappoint anyone,' the modest star explained.

Last month Emilia defended her nude Game Of Thrones scenes during an interview with Huffington Post.

Questioning why the male characters don't receive the same backlash, she wrote: 'If you’ve watched Game of Thrones then, spoiler, you will have seen me in the nude.

'There are plenty of ways in which people want me to respond to questions about this fact. And plenty of reasons why I do not feel the need to justify myself.

'The roles I’ve played have given me an insight into what it feels like to be a woman who stands up to inequality and hate, and stands out as a feminist. It has forced me to stand by my actions and be OK with the consequences.'

The actress who plays icy haired dragon mother turned queen Daenerys Targaryen, got her breakthrough role after leaving drama school at age 23, and famously stated she did the funky chicken and robot dance in her audition.

And despite her stellar performance, which has seen her nominated for Emmy, Screen Actor Guild and Critics Choice awards, she confessed to fearing she would be axed in the early days of the series.

The star has been keeping tight-lipped about the plot twists in season seven, which premieres on Sky Atlantic on July 17.

The final season is expected to air sometime in 2018.
