 He was in Australia earlier this month promoting his new solo career.

And One Direction's Niall Horan, 23, will return to the country in September as part of his international tour.

But in a decision that's sure to upset fans, the popular boybander will only perform only once at a venue which holds just 2000 people, news.com.au reports.

Niall will perform songs from his forthcoming solo album which includes This Town and Slow Hands, which is currently number two on the Australian charts.

The Irish singer will play at Sydney's Enmore Theatre, which can hold a maximum capacity of just 2000 people, on September 10. 

Tickets for the concert go on sale on Friday for $81.50 per person, with purchasers only allowed to buy two tickets per person.

Niall's tour echoes Harry Styles' plans, who is also performing Down Under later this year.

Harry limited ticket sales to just two per person and will play two small venues in Melbourne and Sydney.

Niall's fans outside Sydney will have to wait until 2018, with a bigger tour planned for then.

Earlier this month, Niall was in Australia for a series of whirlwind media appearances on television and radio. 

The heartthrob told Nova's Fitzy and Wippa that he was very much single and open to dating an Australian girl.
