A North Carolina couple who lost their two young sons in a car crash two years ago, have welcomed twin boys into the world.

Gentry and Hadley Eddings' twins Isaiah Dobbs and Amos Reed were born happy and healthy on Monday, Charlotte news station WBTV reported.

The boys' middle names are in honor of the big brothers who died after the May 2015 crash.

Gentry and Hadley were both 28 years old when they lost their two-year-old son Dobbs in the tragic accident near Wilmington, North Carolina.

Hadley was eight months pregnant at the time of the crash. Doctors delivered the baby by emergency c-section, but the child, named Reed, also passed away two days later.

The truck driver who rear-ended the family, Matthew Blair Deans, who was also 28 years old at the time, was sentenced to one to three years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. He was released at the end of November, after serving a year and three months.

Investigators say he was driving while distracted.

At his sentencing hearing, Deans apologized to the couple for the pain he had caused them.

The couple responded by forgiving Deans in a public statement.

'We hope to be holding hands with you in heaven with our children,' the couple said, according to WWAY.

The couple announced their pregnancy on Facebook page in January.

'Y'all have held us up in prayer and we are so grateful! Now we ask you to add two more Eddings to your prayers! We are expecting twins this summer!', Hadley said.

Hadley shared a photo of her ultrasound on the Prayers for the Eddings Family page, and received thousands of likes.

After the accident, the couple said they had not thought about having more children.

The couple's sixth anniversary fell on the night of the crash and have relied on God and prayer throughout their healing process.

In 2015, the couple said: 'God has our boys in a place of peace, so I am in a place of peace,'

'God has a plan. The situation is a frustrating one. We don't want to be here. We don't like it. This is not a fun situation. We're mad at the loss. But we know God is good and has a plan and we believe that.'

'I hate that this happened. I don't like it at all. But I can trust God even when it's really hard. I just trust it. I have to, I have to,' Hadley added.

Gentry is a worship leader at Forest Hills Church - one of the biggest churches in Charlotte with a 6,000-member congregation across four campuses. Hadley teaches preschool at the church.

A GoFundMe page organized by the couple's friends after the accident has raised more than $203,000 in the past two years. But Hadley and Gentry said that those who want to help should donate to 'Mission of Hope Haiti', a mission where they both served.

The organization works in orphan care, education, health care, church advancement and women and family empowerment programs throughout Haiti.
